Jake's words are solemn and respectful and Spock nods along with what he's saying. There was nothing left to salvage from Vulcan's destruction but his people and others are still working to bring back what they can. Cross breeding plants in an effort to recover something close to native Vulcan crops. But Jim is not Vulcan, and while its destruction aches for him too, his loneliness is derived from being left behind.
