The strength to accept one's fate for the good of those who will come after is not something many would understand. If she weren't more spirit than woman right now Hazel may not understand it either. It is in every living thing's nature to fear death, or at the very least to seek every other alternative first.

"That which comes after you should be proud to call you kin, little one." For someone to be utterly alone in their own death is a tragic thing, but Hazel sees the potential for something better to come from it. "You care more than they ever gave you credit for, don't you?"
