It definitely wouldn't work here, even if she could muster it. Cricket's not an arrogant anything; he's a young man used to the short end of the stick, used to being dismissed as worthless at a glance, and used to getting punished for trying to stand up for himself. Passive-aggressive sass and affected cool is his only shield or weapon.

He's ruffled, but he's listening, and something about his expression softens a little as he hears her out. Because it's a good point, based on what he knows about the Thing. Opening the door is potentially risky to the rest of the Nexus.

"Well...you ain't wrong," he says slowly. "And you're entitled to your opinion, only I don't think anyone's in a position to enforce that kind of thinking. I mean, Palmer's alive in his world. If he wants to go back, it ain't right to stop him. No one has that authority here, anyway. And if someone else wants to go with him, I don't think anyone's got the authority to stop 'em, either."

Worrying his lip, he studies her expression, because he's not trying to tell her he doesn't care what she thinks. He does, because she's a friend, but he's not going to let it dictate his actions, either.

"If Palmer decides it's too much of a risk, I ain't gonna argue with that, but he's got friends back there, and maybe he wants to save the world or somethin'. Lots of folks around here do that kinda thing."

"And me...I just ain't gonna let a friend go into danger without helping in whatever way I can."
