In the end, they may or may not be able to save everyone, and that's just the way of it. In the moment, Horvath is just glad of any help he can get, and watching Hermione and Danny at work is admirable even if the latter seems briefly paralyzed by fear. Maybe especially because Danny seems paralyzed by fear. In light of that, whatever he does manage to do is all the more meaningful.
