Miles wasn't responding, even to the panicked wailing of his companion, or the noise of others outside. Just slack in Peter's grasp as he drifted back towards awareness, however slightly. Enough to realize he was feeling warm, but not enough to understand why that might be a bad thing. Mask on, no one would see the signs of wakefulness, but Matt would hear the soft hitch of breath, and Peter might hear the slurred mumble, though if there were words there it was impossible to say.
