Hot chocolate for sale

There is a small red Fox in the Nexus today, standing nearby a hot chocolate stand, and every now and then keeping his paws warm by an open fire he has going in a trashbin.

He has found some warmer clothes to wear, now that the Nexus is in full winter mode.

The snow is still curious to him.

"Fresh Hot Chocolate! Come and get it!"

"Seriously... how do you non-furred creatures stay warm right now?" He stands near his bin fire again.

"There's stranger things than humans here. So, are all nonhuman animals sapient in your world? You mentioned reptiles, and mammals."

Aw, crap, now he feels bad. "If you don't find anything, I can ask my wife to knit you something." He gestures to the scarf around his neck. "She's always looking for someone to knit for."

The question surprises a genuine smile out of him. "You've asked the right person. I'm not human, but I do know how to make coffee. You need roasted beans, a grinder, and a really good coffee machine. Don't skimp on any of those. A press works fine as a manual device, but a machine will brew more efficiently."

"But is it a machine who picks the beans... or a human?" Nick is not sure how humans grinding beans by hand would be any more sanitary than elephants.

"I would love a knitted scarf from your wife. Such a lovely woman."

"Of course they are. Why wouldn't they be?" Nick flicks his ear. "Are there non-sapient human animals in your world?"

[craftyredfox]

"Doing my best to stay warm. I would love a nice warm cave right about now..."

"We live in a desert on our home planet, which has warm winters already. So this is new for us, too."

"No, but humans are the only sapient species we have in my world." Connant shrugs. "Your world sounds better than mine in many ways."

To Isa, the sight of someone like Nick is nothing strange at all. He's seen people like that, in other worlds. Never interacted with them much - no, not in those times, not in the Organisation, all secret and, well, more secrets, covert operations, but he's free of those chains now. No one has him suppressed, anymore.

Fresh hot chocolate on a cold day sounds good, absolutely. Like a thing from over a decade ago, when he was free to exist, as he is, recently, now.

"We do have hair. And clothes." As for hair, Isa's is indeed long, though probably not from perspective of a fox.

"How much for chocolate?" he asks.

The Warlock pulled a couple silver coins out of her belt pouch and placed them on the stand. "I'm sure many appreciate it." She said. Luce came around her head, blue light flashing from his optic as her helmet dissolved in light to be stored temporarily. It would make it easier to enjoy her hot chocolate without it on. She ran fingers through her short blue hair as her breath misted in the crisp air.

Turning her glowing blue eyes to the small fox humanoid, she offered a small smile. "I'm Katiri. Guardian from the Last City. This is my Ghost, Luce." She gestured up at the bot.

"Nice to meetcha!" He greeted, sounding surprisingly human for a floating snowball.

Nick is fascinated by the blue hair for a moment. He jumps a little with Luce speaks, not expecting it. And then chuckles softly.

"Nick Wilde. From Zootopia."

"I have clothes too. I am still cold." Nick points out, with a slight laugh.

"By donation. I brought it so others could stay warm, if they wanted."

"Sounds a little boring. If you ask me. That humans are the only sapient species."

[craftyredfox]

"Arctic weather like this... usually stays in the Arctic zones in my world. So this is honestly the first snow I have interacted with."

"It's what I was used to. Until I came here, of course. The Nexus is much more colorful."

"What do you think of it?" The Skeksis is curious. "So many things here are new for us, including the snow."

"Zootopia?" Luce wondered curiously, drifting closer to the Fox. "Is that a planet or a city? What's it like?" In any case, neither he nor Katiri had heard of it.

"Forgive my companion's curiosity." The Warlock chuckled. "We are still fascinated with the worlds where people come from. This place is so diverse." It was also interesting that the Fox was named such a human sounding name.

"That makes sense. It is winter, after all."

Is the fox from a warm world or country?

"By donation? That's kind of you."

"By hand," Caspar replies. "You can't use a machine to pick the fruit, it'd damage the trees." He's not sure what point Nick is trying to make. He's imagining elephants using their trunks to make coffee, and washed hands seem a lot more sanitary than a washed nose.

The Cylon smiles reflexively at the compliment. "Generous to a fault," he notes. "I'll have to remind her about your size. She's used to larger scale projects. She made a scarf for a dinosaur last winter."

Nick just shakes his head. He knows humans do a lot with their hands... just like a lot of Animals on his world use their paws. He can't imagine what Caspar is thinking, so doesn't comment on it.

"A scarf for a dinosaur would be a complete outfit for me." He chuckles.

"And I have never seen snow before. I am not used to this climate." Nick pours the man a glass of hot chocolate and offers it to him.

"Definitely is. A nice place to visit, all and all."

[craftyredfox]

"Some days it seems too strange for me. So I don't visit often."

[craftyredfox]

"A city. Everyone living there are Animals. And there are different zones... smaller spaces for the smaller species. Tropical places for those who prefer a warmer climate. Arctic places for those who prefer a colder climate."

"It is really large... the city."

"That makes sense. Try to wear more layers."

Of clothing, since the fur apparently doesn't suffice.

"Thank you."

"It sounds like an amazing place." Luce said, impressed.

Katiri nodded, reaching for her hot chocolate and taking a sip. It both smelled and tasted delicious and was a perfect beverage for such a chilly day. "We are from a large city too. On our world, it is the last safe refuge. Guardians like me are charged with protecting it and the people that dwell there."
