It's not that he's not terrified; he's just so fascinated that it outweighs any sense of danger. He doesn't flinch at all, either from Lucifer's inspection or the movement forward of Leviathan and the flick of her tongue. He actually leans forward slightly for both, closing his eyes briefly.

The explanation makes little sense to him. He's heard the word 'angel' in context of human mythology and associates it only with little trinkets that appear in shops at the close of winter. Little dolls with fluffy wings and white gowns, that have no religious significance to his kind for the most part, but whose images linger on their planet because of the human influence that overwhelmed it once.

Likewise Leviathan's question is hard to answer, because his first response to her was not from his conscious mind. He sits still a moment, eyes remaining closed as he thinks and attempts to pull himself together.

"We had winged snakes once," he says. "On my world. They were called e'tha. And our religion, as much as we remember...snakes represented our gods, forces of creation and destruction. Ground serpents we call veth, and they represent chaos and destruction. E'tha were creators."

"My planet was occupied, though, for millennia, by an alien species, and a lot of our culture was destroyed. E'tha are extinct, as far as we know. I've seen the fossils, but the biggest isn't as big as you are." He gives Lucifer a slight nod, opening his eyes again.

It kinda goes without saying that none of them were as big as Leviathan.

"I guess I'm trying to protect what's left and help rebuild what we lost. I honestly didn't think about it much until I came here, though. A different perspective...changes things."
