That sense of wrongness only increases at the angel's reactions, all signs of dread, resignation, anxiety. What reason would a celestial creature have to fear a human?

Some part of Matt knows the answer before it's spoken, yet he still feels his spine stiffen, the little hairs on his arms and the back of his neck prickling at the revelation. He has battled evil in its physical forms as Daredevil, fighting back against those who exploit others and keep them beaten down. Many times he'd spoken to the late Father Lantom about the nature of evil and Satan, and whether or not he is real, or simply a metaphor for the great evil that humans are capable of themselves. He had never really pictured meeting the Devil in the flesh, let alone in a clothing store, of all places.

He cannot be certain if Lucifer's heartbeat can be relied on to be honest to his ears, but what reason would he have to know that this would matter? God knows all things, but it's never been said that the Devil does. And yet he is the Prince of Lies. This is a dangerous edge that Matt walks, and he knows it.

But then he's skirted close to mortal sin before, walking the razor's edge. He does not retreat, nor flinch, but crosses himself reflexively. "And... you're going shopping."

Not exactly something the Church would probably expect of the great tempter.
