Lucifer has to stifle the laugh at the sudden crossing of himself but otherwise the lack of overt response relaxes Lucifer. His heartbeat and breathing starts to return to normal, or at least what Matt sensed when Lucifer first approached.

"The truth?" Lucifer speaks with a hint of amusement in his voice. "My kind were created long before God gave clothing out as a curse to mankind but mortals find blatant nudity to be offensive at varying degrees. If I have to wear clothing I am going to choose it for beauty and fine quality."

The devil was being truly honest. If Matt wasn't going to react, outside of the ridiculously ineffective signing, then Lucifer was going to maintain civility. "In the modern era, I have taken a liking to the tailored three piece suits that humans produce."
