Tony will find the teenager looking up a him from his perch beside the fountain, analyzing him as if deciding whether he can be trusted. If the pamphlets were right, physical harm was more difficult here - if not impossible, but Paul has plenty of reasons to be careful with his identity.

There are things that are easy to identify. Clearly a mechanic and engineer, and it's always a good idea to have one of those as an ally. So Paul decides to trust Tony. Not with everything, obviously, but enough to return the handshake and give some basic information.
