pirateangelbaby: (King of Asgard)

"Only the animals that think and speak." He puts no special emphasis on his words, but there's an unspoken acknowledgement that Fenrir himself falls under that umbrella. He's not the only one that would, though Thor imagines the rest might find it easier to consider themselves subject of the crown. But subject is not servant; if Fenrir still claims to be of Asgard, then Thor has a duty to him in some way.

And today that includes making sure none of his other subjects get eaten, apparently.

"I myself have hunted in Vanaheim's forests countless times," he adds. "The common beasts of the Nine Realms shall be fair game for your hunger. And should you be attacked unprovoked, you have the right to your own defense, or to demand wergild if you see fit." It's the same as would be expected from anyone else within the bounds of Yggdrasil, Asgardian or not. Thor does not relish giving Fenrir any wiggle room to claim provocation to justify violence, but should the great wolf speak true, there may be little risk for that.

Still, he'd better let his people know before any of them run afoul of him. Chances are decent that it will happen eventually, and he'd rather not break this fragile truce as soon as it's made.

He's silent a moment in the wake of the last statement from the wolf, watching him. The magics of the antiviolence field are such that even Thor can feel them, though the invisible energies simmer more calmly than they had when he'd first approached. Perhaps it's best to find the wolf a better outlet before he's tempted to test it further, and hurt himself or others in the attempt.

"There is a magic here that prevents injuring or killing others," he says, raising his chin slightly to look Fenrir in the eye. "But there are Wild places here where the magic is thin, and predators prowl in search of prey. Few visitors risk the dangers of the Wilds, but I've hunted there also. I could show you there, if you wish it."
