We have moons and other spheres close enough to see, but there's still a vast empty gulf between them. Most of the outer planets are the realms created by Daedric Princes, so they're typically dangerous and chaotic. A mage with enough power and skill can reach them through portals.
Your myths sound intriguing. Circe sounds curiously like Hircine, the Lord of the Hunt. He's been known to transform people in that way, and many witches worship him. We have a god of magic too, though he's a little unofficial. Do people no longer practice magic in your world, if Hecate's following has shrunk?
An imp is like a small, ugly humanoid with bat-like wings. They can cast simple destruction spells, like fireballs and lightning, and the wild ones are fairly dangerous to unarmed travelers. Some mages show off by keeping them as pets. I'm not familiar with hippogryphs, but we have centaurs in a couple of provinces. I've read a little of them before.
It's quite a mystery. Our scholars have had centuries of fun coming up with theories. I don't think you're so much like them, though. You seem far more pleasant and personable.
