Waylon was only momentarily confused, seeing the other guy reach into his pocket, but caught on to what he meant when he pointed to his ears, he probably can't hear. He read the message on the phone and non verbally indicated that it would be more than fine with him. He has a phone too in his vest that he can use.

It was a futuristic looking one that he usually uses to keep in contact with his companions if he went off by himself through time and space. He knows its most likely more advance then the one the other guy had and he reckons that fact would most likely raise questions, but it'll get the job done. He types his reply out and shows it to him woth a friendly smile.
