He doesn't need to explain, least of all to ease her own embarrassment, but she's touched by his honesty. "I was expecting you to take more," she admits. "It's good that you know your limits." She laughs weakly. "I'd probably make myself sick all the time, or forget to eat or something..."

She looks over at the buffet again, briefly. "My world is under occupation currently. We have food, but it's... not great. Reconstituted stuff, mostly. Or processed algae. And it's rationed, so everyone has enough, but barely." She's still blushing, more out of shame than anything, but she pushes on to explain herself. "No one in the settlement has anything like this. I didn't want to be greedy."
