There's no sense in trying to play the lost innocent himself, Felix has already decided. It would be tedious, and unhelpful, and far too easy for Norn to catch him out on. In any case he expects the comms officer is going to learn most of the truth eventually - definitely far more than Jim would like. Might as well accept that now and win some of Norn's trust out of the bargain.
