Learning to Fend for Yourself

After a brief absence from the Nexus, Hunter has returned. He is still without his magic, as evident by the growth of hair on his head and not being covered by tattoos or piercings. However, Hunter does not have one tattoo, a freshly-created recreation of the rose bush tattoo on his left forearm.

Hunter seems to be deep in thought, as he taps a pencil on a large sketch book with one hand. His other hand is playing with a protection rune hanging from his neck.

"If you had to face a foe that has abilities you do not... how would you prepare yourself?" Something about his question might clue a listener to the fact that this is not hypothetical.

"It is a supernatural ability. She has abilities that most humans do not."

I have abilities twolegs do not, like seeing in the dark. But this is different. A confused growl. This enemy is a twoleg herself? Did she learn magic, or is it instinct? He knows instinct is things you don't need to be taught, or learn to do on your own.

[losthunter]

"She was born with it, as far as I know. And I used to have my own magic... but she stole it from me." Hunter explains.

[hybriddino]

The dinosaur hisses. How could your abilities be taken from you? To him, it would be like having his echolocation stolen, or his intelligence. How did she do it? Is there any way you can get it back?

[losthunter]

"With her magic. And I hope there is..." Hunter is determined to get his magic back.

[hybriddino]

I hope you get it back. The dinosaur gives a sympathetic growl. Having your abilities stolen must be terrible, and humiliating.

[losthunter]

"Me too. But until then, I still have to figure out how to face this woman."

[hybriddino]

The Indoraptor trills in understanding. He was young and inexperienced when he fought the blue scaly-runner. If they fought again, he would do better.

"Thanks."

"Have you been in the Nexus long?" He is curious.

[hybriddino]

The dinosaur trills a thanks in return.

No. I'm new here. Don't know how I came.

[losthunter]

"I imagine that it must be a little weird for you to be here."

[hybriddino]

It is. The dinosaur thinks for a moment. Better, though.

[losthunter]

"I am glad to hear it. Hope you have made some friends."

[hybriddino]

I have. I've never had friends before. It feels good. A quiet purr comes from deep in the dinosaur's throat.

[losthunter]

"That is the nice thing about the Nexus. The friends you make here are going to be some of the best friends you have ever made in your life."

[hybriddino]

Really? The dinosaur tilts his head. I'm surprised so many want to be my friend. Happy, though. It's a nice feeling. A new one. I could get used to it.

[losthunter]

"Thanks for taking the time to answer my question."

"I'm Hunter."

[hybriddino]

The Indoraptor trills his own thanks.
