+1 Small Detective

Conan was starting to get a headache.

Upon arriving here, he'd immediately watched the PSA and gathered up as many different kinds of brochures he could locate. He'd spent a few minutes in the plaza, spreading them out on the ground as he checked them against each other and scribbled down observations in his notebook. It still wasn't nearly enough information. He wasn't going to believe he had actually stumbled into a multiverse without more evidence than this.

That left one option.  For the rest of the afternoon Conan lingers around the plaza, ambushing anyone in the area with a carefully cheerful interrogation.

" Hello!  Could you help me?"

"A multidimensional hub, where different worlds can interact and meet." Peter looks at the kid. "What more of an explanation do you need?"

"I've never been in another dimension before, so that isn't very useful either. I want to know details about what to expect here. Is it dangerous to have so many different worlds interacting? Like what if a disease comes from one world, and all the people from the other worlds don't have any immunity against it?" He pauses a moment. "I saw a program about something like that on television a while ago!"

"There is an Anti-Violence Field. So safe enough." Peter explains. "And there is a few people who help protect the Nexus too... in case that fails."

"You worried about catching a disease?"

[spoilsfun]

"That was just an example. I read about the anti-violence field. And I wondered if it would stop something that wasn't violent. But speaking of that! How does the anti-violence field work?"

[iwillcatchup]

"It is basically... if you do not want violence against you to happen, the AV Field will prevent it. But there are ways to agree to a fight. Or a sparring match." Peter replies. "I have heard of times the AV Field failed... so it ain't a dependable thing."

"But what counts as violence? Who decides what's violent and what isn't? And what caused it to fail before?" Conan was feeling decidedly cynical about the idea of a field that simply prevented violence. Nothing was ever that simple.

"You have a lot of questions for someone so young."

[spoilsfun]

"You can't find answers if you don't ask questions," he points out. "And I might be a kid, but I'm also a detective."

[iwillcatchup]

"You know... one could debate the fact that a kid could be a detective." Peter points out. "Have you asked yourself that?"

[spoilsfun]

"I already know that I am a detective," Conan points out. "Amateur for now, of course. But other people ask me that all the time." It never got less annoying. He makes a face. "When they're not patting me on the head and telling me to go play detective somewhere else."

[iwillcatchup]

"Well see... you want people to believe you and accept you as a detective. That is a little like how the Nexus just wants people to believe. To believe that you can meet others from different dimensions. That you can be safe here."

"...I don't really think those two things have anything in common."

"Belief?" Peter shrugs.
