GOATS
"Do you have children?"
The voice seemed to come before the lady, as if the question summoned her, rather than was actually spoken.
Small, demure in appearance, lovely in a way that quickly extended itself into the realm of disquieting. She seemed doll like, unliving and not quite made of flesh.
Little hands resting on a heavily pregnant belly, the woman draped in heavy Victorian dresses of stone grays, off whites and dull sky blues, with that porcelain skin and wild snow white hair, she'd almost look like she was trying to blend into the snow.
"If you do not, do you want them?"
Ah, so it was her speaking, the voice soft and sweet, if... off, in an odd way. A tone that crept up the spine and settled into the neck and base of the skull, like cold fingers pressed against the nape.

So many strange, alien ideas here, in this little nexus.
"What makes you unfit?"

"I'm a selfish human being who mostly only cares about myself. The idea of pregnancy and child-raising is a burden, as I want to be free to do as I see fit." There's also the fact that she's not all human and being a parent would be impossible if she ever wanted it. "I'd rather support those who already have children instead of having my own."

What was the point of having a working womb, after all, if one didn't use it?
"You deny the gift you were given?" Oh no, Marie wasn't one of her followers, but that fact wouldn't stop the All Mother from being... at the very least, mildly irate.
"To be unable is forgivable. But to possess that blessed gift to create life, and throw it away, is blasphemy."
no subject
"What gives you the right to judge another person's decisions? Some people are terrible parents and choose to not put their child through that type of life? Would you rather see the offspring suffer because of neglectful human actions?"
Ball's in your court now, Shub.

Less like animals, more like plants.
"Is your complaint that any child you bear would be too helpless to attend to itself? My children are not born unformed, I bear only gods, and the servants of gods. Whatever is powerful enough to tear itself from my womb and fly into the universe." Her tone is softening, her expression becoming more tender.
"Poor creature, I understand now."
Weak, sickly children who can't take care of themselves, now she gets it.

"I'm sorry to have gotten into this type of dispute with you." Another step backwards. "A simple misunderstanding, no more or less. I'll leave you to your day in peace."

Marie took a step back, and she'd find her steps haunted, the endless depth of those void like eyes locked on her.
"Weak as humanity is, to truly carry to term one of our ilk would be impossible for you. Poor creature, frail thing, it would eat you from the inside out. Even the half breeds mother did not last long.
Perhaps I can still give a gift to you."
no subject
"What kind of gift? I'm not agreeing to anything. Not when I know that you transcend humanity itself. I don't wish to invoke your wrath either."
