Winter tithe
Although the Nexus is generally well kept, this year its inhabitants are a fraction more careful about keeping the paths clear of snow. As if by pushing the mound of white powder to the side they will stop the Nexus from being buried like last year. But as with all places lacking an organised effort, the clearance is patchy. Where some people have thrown out dirt or salt to clear the paths outside of their homes or houses, an equal number haven't. Ice sits perfectly clear over stone and concrete, or hidden under the thinnest layer of snow. All of it a precarious balance of mortal awareness and a Winter spirit's work.
This is one of the few times Reynard walks freely in his human form through the streets. Occasionally someone will recognise him and hasten to take care of their home or pull gloves onto their hands. Most people don't, however. Such is the nature of the Nexus, in a place filled with so many people they don't seem to be able to point to the person encouraging their troubles, even if he has proclaimed it from the rooftops. Once he's done admiring the hard work of some and punishing the negligence of others, he ends up in the centre of the Nexus.
Leaning against a lamp post, he takes his hat from his head, inspecting it briefly before address those passing by. "What are you leaving in the past this year?"

"Why is this on you? Why are you doing it? Are you so busy doing it 'because you're a kind person' that you don't stop to question whether you should? Some people don't deserve help. That's just how things are. And they don't need to be monsters. Take a good, hard look at yourself and question what good comes of this. Ask yourself whether it's fair to give all your time and effort and care to people who aren't grateful for it, leaving no time or effort or care for yourself."

"Well..no tis not..that." She murmurs shaking her head a little as that didn't ring true to her. "I think it's because.." She tries softly again. "..In part..there are those who will suffer for it if I do not...In one way or another..And..well sometimes..I ..suppose..it's a bit..instinct..or habit..by now..And that's not always my call to make." She blinks and tries to absorb that and ponders if there's..anything..else that comes to her at the moment.
"Besides saving lives and..limbs ya mean?" She asks softly but sincerely trying her best..Though sometimes even that was not enough. "And I suppose..to serve some other purpose besides myself. " She adds after a moment.

He folds his arms and tilts his head at her. "There are better ways to serve another purpose than that. Ways that are kinder to you. That put you first."

"Is there?..ya have any suggestions?" She asks slightly wry but hopeful in return softly and well if he had any good ones or ideas she was open to such. She grimaces a little. "I mean..I don't wanna be selfish either.." She murmurs softly. "but balance is good." She mumbles slightly in addition.
