how long has it been

It has been quite a few months since Hunter was last seen around the Nexus. His Starfleet studies have kept the tattooed man quite busy in that time. And with exams now out of the way, he needed to get back to a place that felt like home. To see the friends that he missed. And of course, distract himself from still being somewhat separated from his boyfriend.

Hunter sets up an artist pedestal, and places a white canvas on it.

"I have had an interesting time in the past while... learning about peacekeeping and diplomacy efforts. And having the chance to interact with other species from other worlds."

"It makes me realize the opportunity that the Nexus gives us... to learn from other worlds and cultures and species. And to give and get advice from those who visit this place."

"Who have you met that meant the most to you?" Hunter asks his question. "Also... I am accepting commissions again. So if you have someone in mind that you want a drawing off... let me know."

Matt smiles a little. "Rose petals? Interesting medium. I've touched a few oil paintings before but it doesn't do much for me." Soft blobs of dried paint don't do much to convey an actual image, and while Matt's other senses do a fine job of tracking objects and terrain, flat images are still completely invisible to him, as well as the colors.

"A personal motif, then." That makes sense to Matt. He's not about to ask about the reasons behind this choice; it's awfully forward to put that on a stranger to explain.

But an artist who's thought to include visually impaired people in their works is definitely worth his attention, for the novelty if nothing else. "You wouldn't happen to have any examples around that I could touch, do you?"

Matt has had plenty of experience with PINpoints by now, so the sudden disappearance of the person he's speaking to doesn't alarm Matt at all. He simply pulls his cane close, so passersby won't trip over it, and waits patiently for Hunter's return.

He needs no guidance to find the art, though it's also clear he isn't looking at it. Matt's hand traces slightly over the surface of the piece, following the textures and bumps with a small smile on his face, a frown of concentration creasing his brow. It's flatter than a sculpture would be, making it slightly harder for him to process, but his hands are sensitive enough to make up the difference. "It's a woman, right?"

"I can smell them." Maybe an ordinary person might not be able to, especially after the paints and adhesives that were used to make them stick. "I don't know that I've experienced art quite like this before."

"You mean creating? No, never, except maybe when I was a kid." That was so long ago, though, that he can't remember if he did or not. Certainly not as an adult, though.

"Thank you. I'll keep that in mind." Matt's not sure he'll take him up on it, but it's nice to have the option. "My hobbies tend to be more along the lines of reading, or boxing."

"Fogwell's Gym in Hell's Kitchen. My dad used to compete there, back in the day." His tone is the sort people often use to talk about loved ones who've passed away, long enough ago that it doesn't hurt as sorely anymore. "I go in after hours sometimes and just hit the bag around a bit."
