Smile when your Heart is Breaking and even though your aching.

 Under a shady tree not far from some spot between one of the Cafe's and a announcement, or pin/cork board a black German Sheppard is nudging a pretty descent size cardboard/shipping like box into place. There's a quilt mostly covering the top, The smell of cheese crumpets and some other baked goods waft up from inside. There's a medium size dry erase board and marker hanging from a tack outside. With the question, 'What do you do when your feeling down?, In the Dumps or Melancholy? ' She checks to  make sure it's secure before hoping inside. An ear twitching or eye mite be visible now and again. But mostly she'd curled up feeling emotionally and physically drained, her head pillowed on a lovely blue scarf. She lovingly rubs her check against the soft cashmere. 

Which was on of the last gift's she'd gotten from a dear friend and heart brother and a well loved home made plush mouse, in a deerstalker and tweed outfit. She gently gums at an ear perhaps out of habit or thought between  Half heartedly trying to nibble on a snack, and laying a bit listless. Half hoping..she mind see a friendly face or two while the other half doubted anyone would be bothered or care to notice. A part of her trying to hold onto hope another part felt like she was running on fumes. A person could only take so much heartache let alone doing one's best and failing for the most part over and over again.

Sonic found himself really enjoying this. Exchanging touch and snuggles with a friendly soul. Maybe someday he'll meet the Flash for real! Or this other speedster Ash alluded to that was in the Nexus somewhere.

"Wow that would be amazing." He beamed. "To meet another speedster like me!" He loved going fast and wouldn't want to ever give up his speed - but he had to admit, it was a big part of why he'd been so alone so long. Being so different and having to hide. The idea of being with others like him was astounding.

"The idea that there are multiverse versions of Robotnik is super creepy." He agreed, giving Ash a comforting ear rub at seeing her shudder. "One is bad enough!" He returned the nuzzle when she curled protectively around him. "I think at first he was just checking out the source of the power outage. Then when he realized I was an alien from another planet he got kinda nuts." He shrugged a little. "I didn't want to cause any hurt to anyone. I just didn't want to be alone anymore." He shook his head. "I had to escape my home planet when I was little and hide out on Earth for ten years. I think I was pretty close to losing my marbles too." He added sheepishly. He had to laugh though at Ash's words about magic users. "Hey! Maybe I'm a wizard!" He joked, wiggling his gloved fingers.

"Your eyes glow too huh? Must be a sight to see. Do you do magic besides changing what you look like?" Sonic asked curiously, resting his head against her as he pet her soft fur gently.

She nods softly, "Aye..no one should be alones." She murmurs softly especially Heroes more prone to getting in over their heads and hurt that way for starters. She wags her tail at the thought of Sonic having more buddies.

She let's out a breath and shudders. "I know..never the less.." She leans into the pets that was nice. "Being forewarned is forearmed." She makes a bemused sound and leans her head gently against him for a few moments.

"Mmhmm, lots of folks act..skittish at the very least round new and usual things they aren't used to. " She murmurs softly yes she could see both sides of the story..Too a point..Though
even with her wolfie instincts the first impulse wasn't capture or kill it with fire! Maybe study it and try and see if it was intelligent and or say if it could be reasoned with. Or hurt.. Every and anyone or being would lash out if they were lost, hurt, confused.

And say something big and scary came at ya...running..away or hiding..yup.

or fall back and regroup as the lads might say especially her pal Major 'Rex' Steel.
Or..Cap..she sighs softly..and gently muzzles her little hedgey friend again.

"Course, ya didn't sweetheart." She murmurs loving and understanding. "Some folks like to jump to conclusions instead of asking questions. " She nods..yeah she might act a little weirdly or overexcited herself sometimes..Especially if they're was someone she admired or really wanted to talk to about and showed an inkling of the latter. Or heck someone who didn't mind her talking or rambling in general etc. She listens raptly to his tale her yes soften.

"Though most can be as scared of you or skittish as you are of them..especially odd lights and explodey things." She gently cautious and informs. "Least till folks get to know ya." She murmurs and nosing him gently. "Canines tend to be good judges of character..so if..Ozzie is it? Doesn't like someone I'd follow his lead." She murmurs warmly.

She giggles softly, "Well, you definitely channel..energy like most do.." she murmurs warmly. "Can be..Though depends on ..the spell or emotion." After all, she'd seen reflections and mirroring of such in other's eyes and the like. "Some younger ones can have..outbursts or accidental kinds of magic they can't control or least consciously." She informs the wee hedgy. Her wolf was already thinking of him as 'her's' in a way but she was cautious of such for a variety of reasons..She didn't want to scare him off after all.

She half closes her eyes and sighs softly and warm though. "I can..though..some needs special..items or ingredients to ..be potent or be channeled through..and all magic..has some cost to it..or ..equivalent of exchange..Like some things you get real hungry after doing or..Say you overtax your energy and someone breaks your hold..They could knock ya right out or over. " She informs the little hedgey gently and soft. Though the same could be said for an enemy or someone you were sparring or dueling.

Sonic nodded in understanding. Ash was right. Humans tended to be scared when encountering something different - and reacted in a variety of different ways. More times than not, the initial reaction was screaming. Even Tom screamed when he first saw him, but then again, so did Sonic.

He smiled. "Tom and Maddie are pretty used to be by now though I think I still surprise them." He chuckled a bit. "Maddie is Tom's wife. They let me stay with them in their house. Maybe someday they'll come visit the Nexus." He was tickled pink at the idea he was like a wizard. "Well, whether I'm a wizard or not, I don't think I'll wear any robes. They'd get tangled in my legs when I'm trying to run." He joked, green eyes twinkling. "Though the energy thing is still something I don't have full control of yet. My main concern is that I don't want to hurt anyone or make another reason for the government to come after me again."

Sonic tilted his head curiously as he listened to Ash describe how her magic worked. Magic had a cost? The speedster's only reference to magic was what he had seen in comics or on tv. The way it was described though did make sense.

"Oh, I think I get it. Maddie told me once that I had a very fast 'metabolism'. The way you describe your magic kind of sounds like that. My speed comes at the cost of eating a lot and napping to conserve energy." His grin turned sheepish. "When I was alone, I had to scavenge for food around town and keep unseen so I've never eaten what my body needed. But hey, I'm not slamming naps any! I love those." He laughed and reached for his half eaten crumpet so that he could finish it off while still snuggling against the shapeshifter.

She nods back twice mirroring a little but also in agreement.

"Ah..well that's good." She murmurs softly with a happy wiggle of her ears. As she listens raptly crossing her fronts paws for a moment."Well if they do your all more then welcome to come visit my den." She murmurs and makes a mental note to give him directions when she has a spare moment or..show him whatever he fancied if he was still here when Dor got back. She chuckles softly. "Maybe for sleepovers?" She half states half asks.."Or pj parties can be fun I've been to one a while back. " She informs warmly.


She nods understanding, "Practice and patience..mite be key to that..though..you can't say run before you know how to walk dear." She murmurs gently. Though after dealing with ..Mister Bushy Stach she doubts he'd deal well with 'tests' per say..Though she can always ask questions..and see what his feelings, experience and such was or starters. "Sounds..like you'd need a Sonic version..of erm...A Danger Room like the Xmen to train..or.." She taps her chin in thought.."Some such." Or a Speed Lab like Barry and the Star Labs Gang had.


She smiles warmly and nods, "Aye..certain things are very much tied to that. Other things..can be..more complicated." She murmurs even as various ideas she'd like to look into floated about her brain a bit. She'd have to try and get in contact with a few folks though.

Her eyebrows go up and she snugs a little tighter or closer to his side. At hearing this especially. She whines softly and nuzzles him."Poor Sonic..you need to be careful.." She murmurs gently in caution. She gently nudges her container closer to him in offer. Wanting his little tummy warm and full. She smiles softly at his warm laugh her tail wags a little.

"That sounds like a lot of fun!" Sonic beamed at the idea of having a sleep over. "I've never actually had one of those before. The closest though is when I'm having a movie night with Tom and Maddie. We sit in a pile of blankets and have popcorn and sodas and sometimes even some candy for a treat."

The speedster laughed though at the talk of powers and patience. "I'm not really known for patience..." He joked with a grin. "Though having a super secret danger room sounds really cool! Maybe someday I'll find a place to try and figure out my powers." Especially a place without having to worry about consequences due to accidents. He did understand the value of practice though.

Sonic popped the rest of the crumpet into his mouth when Ash snuggled into him with open concern. He grinned a little sheepishly, not wanting to cause worry. He just felt so comfortable with her that he found himself talking about things quite easily. "It's okay! Now that I'm with Tom and Maddie, food isn't a problem." He reassured. "I still like naps though." He chuckled at seeing the tail wag and gave the shapeshifter more ear rubs.

"Have you been waiting out here long?" He wondered curiously. She had said she was waiting for her mate and her pack. He was more than content though to stay for as long as she wished though for company.

She beams at that. "Aye..can be." She murmurs with a nod and happy squint her eyes twinkle a little. "Oooh sounds like a very good one. " She murmurs warmly. "You're welcome to join us if ya like." She offers warmly.

She hums and tilts her head. "Never too late to learn Blue." She murmurs warmly trying the nickname on for size. She chuckles.."Aye..or least a bigger headquarters." She nods half in thought but heck she wouldn't mind a set up like Charles Xavier had someday a nice house and facilities part at least..not the other..issues. "Well let me know if there's any likely prospects..me and Dor be happy to help ya check things out." She offers warmly and sincerely.

He had heard rumblings..of someone building research facilities..She swallowed thickly sometimes approaching people let alone with only a tentative plan could be daunting..perhaps if she could find a research partner or two. Folks she trusted and who were wicked smart.

She gently rise to nuzzle him again. "Well that's good." She murmurs..Yes little ones and fuzzies were a bit of a weak spot for her. She leans into the pets and her tail increases it's wagging. "Yes, naps good for you. Everyone should take em and have snuggles." Would make the world better off if ya asked her.


She looks thoughtful for a moment. "Not very long today..Dor dor gathering some things perhaps.." She pauses for a moment trying to think how best to word. "Perhaps Sonic come to dinner sometime?" She asks hopefully. "Ever make..smores?" She asks warmly.

"Really? I'd like that a lot!" Sonic beamed happily at Ash's invitation. He laughed a little at the new nickname. He wasn't opposed to it - in fact, he gave lots of people nicknames back in Green Hills. Most of them food-related. "Thanks for offering to help me find a good spot to practice. I'd also love to see how your magic works! I know my powers aren't the same, but I might still be able to learn something!"

Sonic smiled at the nuzzling. "I'm getting to like snuggles. I just haven't had any when I was on my own. But I do like'em. I had almost forgotten how nice it was." He sighed in a soft content sound. He did look a little surprised though at the invite to dinner. "Oh! That sounds fun." He said with interest, though he was surprised at the offer considering they had just met. But this was food and involved new friends and fun. So he was always up for something like that.

"I've never made s'mores. What are those?"

She grins at that. Her tail wags a bit. "And anytime..of course..everyone..needs someplace like that." She murmurs especially when one was new at a skill etc. Misfires happened after all..and safety was something to consider. But those in need of practice and otherwise.

She blinks and looks touched and pleased by this with a warm little smile. "I'd be happy too.." As soon as things..got semi back to normal that is. But his presence was helping quite a bit in making her feel better. She gives her new little blue buddy a fond squinty happy look."Am sure we can learn all sorts of things from each other." She murmurs..That's how a good team worked after all.


She smiles softly. "That's good.." She murmurs soft and pleased. "Yes..tis hard..under such circumstances." She murmurs in soft understanding. She blinks..Held her breath for a moment and then let it out softly trying to calm her nerves. Hoping she wasn't pushing..but then..hanging out at a cafe like this at the moment or something would likely be hard to do.

Though there were quite a few various kinds of creatures and critters about..So maybe..There could be one somewhere. "Oh goody." She murmurs warmly her tail thumping a little bit.

Plus she felt more able to protect her little blue friend in a smaller known space. She softly squints and scents the air again. Because one never knew..nor could be too careful. Even if...Most folks she'd run across so far were fairly decent. Key word..Most.

"Ooh you haven't?" She asks softly. "Well there a graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate semi-melted together like..a um gooey dessert sandwich." She does her best to explain.
