Two unusual arrivals from two unrelated worlds.

[OOC: warning, both in potentia chock full of spoilers from their respective series! (Escaflowne and Voltron, that is. Honerva from Voltron and the other character, on [personal profile] dualdestiny account, from Escaflowne (Escaflowne's an old mecha and travelling to another world and other stuff anime series) /ooc]

Two people who didn't arrive together, not at all. They both just happened to appear in Nexus at the same time, for no reason, just pure chance. Completely unconnected in any and all realities.

Somewhere near the plaza.

One of them, a blonde young woman, probably, though one can't be quite sure, immediately asks, "When my brother inevitably comes here, could you please tell him that I haven't been kidnapped? Possibly."

She seems a bit spacey and maybe not quite there, unfocused.

Another, an older white-haired woman, hooded, who seems much, much more focused on the here and now, and on reality, maybe, just tilts her head slightly at the question, but then seems to accept it as possibly a valid concern, just nods curtly at that. Then, she says,

"There are several acquaintances I've made in this reality. However, I'm not certain where exactly they live. Could you please help me find them? I'd be most obliged."

The young woman walks off in the meantime, not interested in that stranger. Walks off to wherever there might be flowers or butterflies or blood or the moon or anyone yelling.

Feel free to approach any of them, anyone. Not together, because they probably won't be together at any time, unless randomly. Just, any of the two.

Oh, she's more interesting by the moment--a mystery even to herself. "Well, whether it's good to meet me or not, they call me Robin," he says, and hops down from the branch to land lightly on the grass. His answering bow is equally courteous.

He glances out towards the Wilds, then back in the direction of the plaza.

"I'm recently arrived here myself, but perhaps we can wander around a bit together, if you like?" At least until her brother turns up and shepherds her back whence she came. "There's always something new just around the corner in this place." One of his favorite things about it, in fact.

[Definitely a fan!]

Robin raises his eyebrows ever so slightly. "No, I don't believe we've met before." Then again, his memory is a slippery thing. He remembers isolated moments with astonishing clarity, but larger swathes of time imperfectly or not at all. The details fade and fluctuate from day to day.

It's the sort of thing that never improves by dwelling on it.

He doesn't miss the slip in pronouns--in identity, perhaps--either. "I'm not afraid of you thus far," he says, tilting his head again. "Perhaps you could warn me, just before I should be, if you're feeling compassionate." He tucks his hands into his pockets and glances toward the plaza again. "...Are you hungry?" She looks as though a meal--or at least a cup of tea--might do her good.

Robin isn't particularly hungry either--eating is something he tends to forget about until it becomes an absolute necessity--but he won't object to sitting at a cafe in the name of companionship. "Well. What if we walk back in that general direction, and if anything draws our attention, we can stop?"

Honestly, most of his plans, if they can even be called that, begin and end with those two steps. But his attention is easily drawn.

"All right," he says, even as the hairs at the back of his neck prickle, ever so slightly, in apprehension. The reaction isn't rational--he would be hard-pressed to even call it reasonable--but he hasn't survived so long by ignoring his instincts.

Still, he has no particular reason to worry. Especially in the Nexus.

And his curiosity is still piqued, so he follows her willingly enough, keeping behind her just half a step or so.

Robin tilts his head from one side to the other, unwilling to pass judgment on what might or might not be weird. "Memory is a fickle thing," he says instead, because he knows a little something about that. "If yours is anything like mine...it comes and goes." That's more than he's said to anyone about it in quite some time. Perhaps it's not much of a revelation, given to a stranger, but he's made himself uncomfortable nevertheless.

He quickens his pace so that he can glance at her sideways. "Why must you look for them without your brother noticing?" he asks.

Robin tries to follow that, fails completely, and decides that nodding in vague agreement is the way to go. He certainly isn't the sort of hypocrite who would prod at anyone else's peculiar thought processes.

"Perhaps we'll be lucky enough to find them, too," he says instead. "All sorts of people--and creatures--wash up here every day."

"Surely they will remember." Robin gives her a slanted smile. That's saved him before, after all--he might not quite recall the circumstances around meeting someone in the more or less distant past, but that someone isn't similarly in the dark. "Hopefully that's all you'll need."

[There he is. XD]

Robin doesn't quite take a backwards step, but only by an effort of will--the ripple of instinct up the length of his spine demands immediate retreat.

"Do they have reason to be sorry?" he asks, keeping his voice steady, his tone a little careless. "Did they lose you, or did you lose them?"

Robin isn't quite sure what he dares, but he fairly sure he's going to regret it. He often does.

"It's only a question," he says, keeping very still. "Should you thank them? Or should they apologize to you? I'm not sure you can have it both ways."

An unusually poignant sympathy aches in Robin's chest, just behind his breastbone, and while he certainly doesn't dare to touch, he does squat down beside her--or him--or them. It's a show of solidarity, if nothing else.

"Don't do yourself damage, trying to remember," he murmurs. "It will come back to you. I think."

[personal profile] gentle_puck 2020-08-13 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that sympathy dies a swift and painless death. "I'm not supposed to do anything at all," Robin retorts, if mildly, as he rises again. There's exactly one being to whom he owes his irrevocable obedience, and Celena is certainly not him. "I offered to stay with you. It was a gesture of good will, not a binding agreement."

His good will, like his attention span, has its limits.

"No, you probably wouldn't." Robin draws in a slow breath and releases it in a sigh. Patience is not one of his virtues. "You know my name," he tries. "But I'm not quite sure I know yours."
