Manhattan's Diamond King
Jack had been wandering the streets on a night watch with Diamond. The people of the Party and their Ministry of Truth goons were getting bold. It made Jack antsy and he wasn’t sleeping. It was weird sometimes how he went days and weeks here and there without sleeping. No one knew how he could do it.
The scenery had changed oddly when he turned a corner, Diamond at his side whining. He reached down and patted the white mutt that went with him everywhere. Straightening, Halloween Jack shifted the automatic weapon slung over one shoulder that stood in stark contrast to his feminine clothing including spike heeled black boots and gaudy diamond bracelets and earrings. He came very close to shooting the hologram when it startled him by appearing on his blind side. He’d seen something like this before but couldn’t remember where. He listened to it all the while wondering why the guy was in the weird get up. It looked enough like a military uniform to make him suspicious of the Nexus.
Walking on he kept looking up at the building corners, the trees, anywhere something could be hung. Though the gun was back in a resting position, he remained jumpy and jittery.. one part drugs and one part nerves. Diamond was watching the people coming out into the plaza. Normal morning traffic of shops opening.
Jack narrowed his eye at the people and eventually asks. “There aren’t any cameras or drones here?”
He is confused as hell about what is going on. The dog sat at his feet, looking up expectantly at her one eyes master. In the back of his mind there is a lingering worry that this is some Party trap or that he had been caught again and this was something in his own mind.

The question about the ministry causes the right side of Jack's body to twitch without the ability to control it. The fluttering very apparent in the fingers of his tight hand, around the patch, and shifting of his right leg.
"A branch of the Party government. They watch for deviant behavior or free thought. Then they come out and collect the people to vaporize. If you can't be brainwashed to a good citizen then you're tormented until you die or they get bored and kill you."
He still had nightmares about his time in captivity. The twitching though fades. "They watch everything through cameras and anything else they can manage." He shifts the gun on his shoulder and finally gives Loki a critical look. Well, at least there were freaks here too.

The god's eyes narrow when the man's right side begins to twitch. Oh, he notices it and wonders what sort of trauma he went through to suffer such a involuntary movement.
"Deviant behaviour? Well, they wouldn't like me since I can be awfully deviant when I want to be. I am Loki, God of Mischief, trickster and prince of Asgard."
A small bow and his eyes were once more locked onto the rather strangely dressed man. Was he even human though? The word mortal wasn't about to cross his lips because Loki was feeling something. It was almost as if a strange alien aura was emanating from the man. He wasn't human. Most Midgardians did not come across such as this.
"Not unless you kill them first."
A flash of his white teeth in the form of a wicked grin and Loki was adamant that he'd rather end the lives of these technology wielding fools then suffer any ill effects.

Jack nods and then laughs. "That's what we do when they come to our turf."
There was no sense in hiding what he was; killer, thief, madame, deviant.

He had no qualms in admitting he'd freely kill his enemies or those who would seek to imprison him. Loki had never been one for confinement and control since he was a free spirit and very unpredictable when locked up. Almost dangerous as most found out. SHIELD didn't have a very good time trying to constrain Loki to their helicarrier.
"You sound like a man who enjoys a good chance at getting his own back. A rebel. Isn't it much more fun to do what you want and not care what anyone else thinks?"
A slow smirk spread across his lips as he remembered fondly what happened back on the helicarrier.
"Some poor fools sought to contain me within a flimsy prison. Of course I broke out and killed one of the agents who sought to aid my demise."

How many of those people had been brainwashed into being problematic now? Jack had no idea.
"The list of crimes put out by the Ministry is hard to avoid. It's not really rebellion when almost everyone ends up being a criminal."
Jack shakes his head and laughs. "I'm outside the prison now. It's everyone else that's still inside."

"Would do they seek to gain from such a regime? Every mortal under their control to spy on and monitor due to their fixation with monotony and order?"
Surely there had to be a crack in this plan. It had to be flawed. No mortal could possibly wield enough power to control a whole city and not fail at some point along the line. It seemed Jack was the rebel; the spanner in the works to ruin the master plan.
"You need not fear such extreme measures here for none exist. There are creatures from all over the cosmos who choose to live how they want. You can be free of these "controllers" from your world."

"Only if I leave everyone else to deal with it alone." Jack had responsibilities of sorts. "Back home the prisons are more mind than brick and mortar. Thinking for yourself is the ultimate rebellion."
no subject
"A free mind is a prison sentence in itself? You seek to bring down this repressive society?"
He could understand the man's needs even though Loki was once intending to enslave humanity himself for his own selfish and egotistical whims. But one man's fantasy could not compare to this. A whole world pressed under the thumb of authoritarian rule.
"I am Loki, prince of Asgard and god of mischief."
A small bow for politeness sake and he was once again staring at the man's only eye.

Jack offers his hand because bowing just seemed strange though he is aware that cultures have different standards.
"Halloween Jack of Hunger City." The god of mischief part made him grin. He'd probably be given that kind of title if someone had the openness to think of it and speak it without fear.
