Manhattan's Diamond King
Jack had been wandering the streets on a night watch with Diamond. The people of the Party and their Ministry of Truth goons were getting bold. It made Jack antsy and he wasn’t sleeping. It was weird sometimes how he went days and weeks here and there without sleeping. No one knew how he could do it.
The scenery had changed oddly when he turned a corner, Diamond at his side whining. He reached down and patted the white mutt that went with him everywhere. Straightening, Halloween Jack shifted the automatic weapon slung over one shoulder that stood in stark contrast to his feminine clothing including spike heeled black boots and gaudy diamond bracelets and earrings. He came very close to shooting the hologram when it startled him by appearing on his blind side. He’d seen something like this before but couldn’t remember where. He listened to it all the while wondering why the guy was in the weird get up. It looked enough like a military uniform to make him suspicious of the Nexus.
Walking on he kept looking up at the building corners, the trees, anywhere something could be hung. Though the gun was back in a resting position, he remained jumpy and jittery.. one part drugs and one part nerves. Diamond was watching the people coming out into the plaza. Normal morning traffic of shops opening.
Jack narrowed his eye at the people and eventually asks. “There aren’t any cameras or drones here?”
He is confused as hell about what is going on. The dog sat at his feet, looking up expectantly at her one eyes master. In the back of his mind there is a lingering worry that this is some Party trap or that he had been caught again and this was something in his own mind.

"Nowhere yet." Jack leaned into the touch. It was nice that, despite still being paid, there was someone who wanted to be around him for what seemed like the sheer desire for his company. "Is this where you take me home, instead of me always having to take you home with me?"
He's teasing, flirting, but also friendly. Jack is really starting to like the angel as more than someone to have sex with. The idea of friends with benefits drifted through his mind and he could definitely settle into that kind of relationship with someone. Especially someone who didn't mind his various professions.

It didn't surprise him to know that Jack had nowhere to go as of yet in the way of an apartment. Hadn't he just arrived within the Nexus? It only made sense that it would take a while to find somewhere. Balthazar himself had a nice rooftop apartment close by the Plaza so that he could enjoy watching what was going on down below. The hubbub of the Plaza often in his line of sight in the morning when he was enjoying a breakfast of boiled eggs and some scotch in a rocks glass.
"Need a couch to sleep on, darling? I can offer you that if you want. Or, there's always the large double bed. I managed to procure that off a rather friendly trader in town."
The truth was he'd charmed the man and made a few promises then perhaps broken a few along the way. Collateral damage.

"How dare you try to shuffle me off to a couch!" Jack could barely keep his smile under control with the mock offense. "Diamond can have the couch. I'll be taking a more comfortable place if I'm staying anywhere. "
Though he's trying desperately to sound serious but the way his eyes are lighting up give away the flirt and jest. To hide the smile he takes a long drink out of the bottle he has.

He offered her up a few more scritches behind her ears and then a pat on the rump. Such a good dog. Balthazar was fast becoming attached to both master and beast it seemed. A smirk tugged at his lips at Jack's put-out display even though it was rather cute. The man's obvious need for attention hadn't gone amiss and the angel only lapped it up with every wanton desire the prostitute offered. Balthazar himself only fuelled that desire with his need to offer up his friendship and company to Jack.
"As for free evenings? Take your pick, love. I'm not doing anything and it's not like I've got a job or anything since I only arrived here three days ago. Or was it two? I lost track of time being thrown out of bars and getting into fights with strange alien men and women."

"I do work but I can make time for one of my favorites whenever you want." Jack only smiles more as they speak. "I'm not going to help you remember what day it is."
no subject
He offered Jack a coy smirk as he then tipped his own scotch bottle up and took a good swig swallowing slowly. Oh, the things that could be said between the two men. Food, booze and company was something the angel could offer in droves. More now then ever since they were in a paradise compared to Jack's world back home.
"Perhaps I might need reminding after a good night or two."
A quick smirk and a wink from Balthazar as he licked a stray drop of whiskey from his lips.

"You'll have no concept after I'm around for a week." Jack took another drink from his bottle and looks around. He's not relaxing here which seems strange even to him. He would have expected the lack of Big Brother to let him take a breath but instead it feels like he's knotting up inside.
"So, what's fun to do around here?"
no subject
"Well, there are nice places to go on long walks to. Parks, open spaces and many shops to peruse. There's a place called the Viper's Pit where you can throw darts or knives for entertainment. A workshop where you can watch this eccentric tech sort of guy build stuff. Also, a popsicle shop I do believe."
There was a lot to do it seemed.
"I tend to enjoy relaxing at the top of my apartment with a bottle or three of scotch passing the time of day."

The teasing is never ending but it is also done with great affection for his newest friend. "No wonder we get along. I spend days drinking on top of buildings too."
no subject
That got a low chuckle from the angel as he took another large gulp of his drink enjoying the familiar burn coat his throat on the way down. There was only one way it could go if Jack did indeed purchase a popsicle in front of the angel. All the way down with no stopping.
"It's such a tension reliever. Seriously. Just being at the top watching what's going on down here on the Plaza. Sometimes you see the most extraordinary things."
no subject
"Back home it's safer to be on the roofs." He shrugs. "There's a lot of corpses and disease on the ground."

Those fangs always got his attention every time Jack bared them. What man possessed such a good pair of fangs and wasn't even a vampire? No men that Balthazar knew and he'd seen actual demons.
"Oh, I do agree. Also a better vantage point to shoot down those pesky helicopters wielding cameras. We should go back to my place, love. No cameras to shoot down or helicopters but we could get sloshed or high."

"I think you'll find the fridge well stocked with food and things you like. The booze cupboard is always well stocked because we don't want any disasters, do we?"
The angel was always enjoying a fine wine or bottle of scotch so it was a must. A man had principles. Passing people on the way back to the apartment, Balthazar offered smiles and waves to those he had met so far upon arrival. Once they reached the apartment, he unlocked the door with his specially designed key and then tucked it into his pants pocket. A short journey up the staircase to the top floor and he opened the door allowing Jack to step inside first as any host would.
"Welcome to my boudoir."
no subject
"What types of things do you think I like to eat?" Jack asks playfully as they walk.
He didn't miss the strange key. He too had ways of securing his flat back home too. With a big smile he asks. "Should I make myself at home?"
no subject
It was a shot in the dark but one that had the angel smiling as he walked in behind Jack, closing the door behind them both. Key tucked away safely as Balthazar made a beeline towards the drinks cabinet, pulling it open and offering his friend a glance inside.
"What's your poison this evening, Jack? I have bourbon, scotch, vodka, rum, tequila, wine, beer and--"
He peeked in behind all the other bottles, jangling them about slightly, as he pulled out a bottle with a crudely drawn sticker on it.
"--moonshine I do believe. Was this from the boys? Perhaps. I can't remember."
Had the angel "borrowed" a bottle of moonshine from the Winchesters? Maybe.

Jack was bust thinking about all the things that were controlled by the Ministry and he rarely got ahold of. Jack follows Balthazar purposefully leaning against him as he peers into the cabinet. "Wine? Something sweet. White?"
no subject
The corner of his eyes crinkled into a warm smile as he felt Jack close by his side while he pulled out a vintage white wine. Perfect. It seemed it would be a scotch free evening, at least for now. Uncorking the wine into glasses, Balthazar poured two equal amounts of the bubbly beverage for them both, passing Jack's his.
"To us. For our future endeavours within the Nexus and let the Ministry burn in their own pile of excrement."
With that the angel clinked his glass against Jack's and downed his glass in one, sighing in contentment.
no subject
Jack was definitely going for the things he rarely got. Jack took the glass and stayed close when he saw that smile.
"Fuck them." He clinks his glass and takes a drink. "We're already telling them off by enjoying sex and food."
He sneaks a kiss off of Balthazar's cheek and takes another drink.
no subject
"The bastards try to starve you? Even more so that they die in their own shit because people like that deserve it even more."
He was going to make sure Jack got as much food, booze and sex as he wanted. Fuck the Ministry indeed. The kiss brought the angel back down from his anger spurt and found himself softening once more. Refilling his glass with more wine, Balthazar slipped a hand around Jack's waist, pulling him closer.
no subject
It didn't make much sense to Jack but that was what the Party talked about. Jack took the arm around his waist as an invitation and seeks out a real kiss, not too deep but definitely passionate and inviting.
