Return of the Blind Ninja

Ordering clothes and equipment from the internet is all well and good, but after Matt's entanglement with the FBI several years ago, the idea of completely untraceable gear has been a tempting prospect. Today, he's browsing the shopping district, rubbing fabrics between his fingers to test its properties, in search of something that might deflect bullets or knives.

It's the Nexus, you never know.

Unfortunately, despite his enhanced senses, there is at least one important factor in purchasing clothes that he cannot overcome on his own. Footsteps mark the approach of someone else, and though Matt keeps his white cane tucked close to his feet to be out of the walkway, it's visible enough to be obvious if you know what you're looking at.

"Excuse me, what color is this?"

Matt tucks the handle of his cane into the crook of his elbow and holds out his hand, waiting for the jacket to be placed there before he runs his fingers over it, getting a feel for both the softness and style of the fabric, as well as the fit. It feels like a fairly basic piece, without the plethora of zippers and velcro that he'd tend to find in clothing outlets at home. The inside feels softer, too, less of that awful plasticky polyester mesh that is the current fashion.

"Closer," he agrees, shifting it around to see how it fits when he actually puts it on. "It's a little tight on the arms, but if they have it one size up, that might do." It makes sense that Nexus sizes won't correlate exactly to those of Earth, but half the fun is exploring, isn't it?

"One size up?" Minoru repeated more than asked, taking it from Matt and trying to fold it up reasonably nicely before putting it back on the table. "Let me see if I can find anything..."

It took a bit of searching, but he did eventually announce, "Found one!"

Matt inspects it again, running the fabric between his hands and eventually slinging it around his shoulders. "Perfect. Does it say how much?" Not that price is a fixed thing in the Nexus, but it helps to know what sort of trade value you're going to need.

It wasn’t marked, so Minoru did the next best thing and flagged down a salesperson. They weren’t too hard to spot, since they were, naturally, wearing all black.

He asked for the price and pointed out who needed to be wrung up. The young girl was more than happy to take things from there, and she came over to introduce herself.

“That should take care of that.” He put the item against Matt’s hand for him to take. “See you around the Nexus?”
