When he was a second year (first years weren’t allowed to have brooms at Hogwarts - the longest freaking year of his life!) he was picked on relentlessly for this crazy trick flying. Minoru did have the benefit of being part of a well-to-do wizarding family that could afford to buy a teenager the equivalent of a high-end sports car. But to Minoru’s credit, he trained hard with it and took the time and spent the funds to maintain it.
