communication and stuff
Rosco is randomly wandering around. He's talking to anyone who is willing.
"They're just some things about this place that I can't get the hang of. Like all the things people go around talking and typing into. I'm just a good old boy from Georgia. What are those things and should I have one?"
He's also a bit confused about jobs and how Nexus society works, especially as a member of the establishment in his own universe.
"How'm I supposed to get work here and what's the employment rate like? I've been feeding myself by selling stuff I find...stuff I find outside that looks unclaimed. I've even sold bottle caps, like that one fella suggested. Is anyone hiring? I don't know much outside of law enforcement."

His brow furrows a bit, and he figures something like enforcing the law might be a bit different. "And seeing that there's no known figure of authority, perhaps we ought to simply live by an honor system. And if things happen, I think we have plenty of heroes who are willing to lend a hand."
And then it dawns on him. "And judging by what you're telling me, I think I just might set up that range. And I'll need some help." He seems to expect some pre-war lawman to have firearms experience.

And he looks happy to see that Rosco is willing to lend him a hand. "I intend to have it in The Wilds due to the lack of the anti-violence field there. And I'm more than willing to show you how some of the weapons from my own world work." It isn't the combat rifles or assault rifles that Danse needs to show Rosco the ropes with, gamma, gauss, laser, and plasma weapons might be exotics for some.
"That's if you don't already know how to use a laser rifle."
no subject
"Uh, I can't say I do. We ain't invented those, yet, fortunately. What are The Wilds and the anti-violence field?"
Rosco loves to learn, despite people's opinion of his intelligence. He also loves gadgets. He's getting excited about this plan, when he recalls the other guy introducing himself.
"Oh. Oh! Sorry. I'm Rosco. Good to meet ya, Danse."
And because - http://i.imgur.com/EM2Hwno.jpg - http://i.imgur.com/RDhCg1j.jpg
And he takes no offense that Rosco didn't shake his hand. "Nice to meet you, Rosco. But yes, there is a more wild area of the Nexus where the Anti-Violence field doesn't work. As for the anti-violence field, it provides a bit of mutual protection to the people of the Nexus. How it works, the pamphlet didn't exactly explain. But the level of technology involved is mind breaking."
"Anyway it will take me sometime to get the shooting range built, and to get everything in order." Danse rests his hands on his hips, and Rosco isn't the only one who is looking forward to this business venture. He seems to be looking forward to this new life inside of the Nexus by the sound of his face. "I have the supplies that I need, and seeing that I intend to live here full time in The Nexus along with a friend of mine."
ROFLMAO That's very Hazzard like :D
"Pamphlett? I don't recall getting anything like that. I might've lost it, when I got out of my car or something."
Rosco nods at the information on the shooting range.
"Is your friend from your world? My dog is here with me."
http://imgur.com/a/lPbze this thread has been inspiring. very 50's chic with scorched trees?
"As for my friend, yes, she's from my home. We have decided that it would be in our best interests and safety to live here. Her name is Curie, and she's going coming here to do some scientific research."
And he raises an eye at the mention of a dog Danse has seen dogs before. "A dog, eh? Is this dog a police dog or guard dog?"
It has! Though, I doubt Hazzard has many neon signs. lol
"I appreciate that," he says sincerely. "I've heard that name Curie before...something about a museum?"
He mulls that over for a few moments, before perking up at the question about Flash. He decides he should bring her out more.
"Oh, she's a police dog. I got from the Police Gazette...that's a magazine, where I'm from. She's real precious!"
He's grinning as proudly as a daddy.

"Is your dog not here with you?" Danse asks as he straightens out his head, and he furrows his brow a bit. "I'm well aware as to what a Gazette is. Just because the world has ended it doesn't mean we still don't come across books and magazines that haven't been destroyed."
"As for dogs, we do have those. Some have gone feral and others have been made into mutated monsters." His voice hardens at the mention of Mutant Hounds. "But there are normal dogs that people still keep to help with guard work. And I think you would like my friend's dog."

Rosco lets his hand drop, glad that worked itself out. He's also quite happy to talk about dogs. He doesn't like the idea of people turning them into mutants, though.
"No, no. I have Flash safe at home. I've been keeping her inside a lot, until I learned more about this place. I hate doing it, but I gotta protect her. I certainly don't want her to become a mutant! Oh I'm sure I would. I bet Flash would like to have a friend here."
no subject
"Maybe it might be best to keep her in your home universe if you worry for her safety." It seems like a logical answer when it comes to what Rosco should do to his dog. And he has no idea what horrors might lurk in the wilds of the Nexus. And he just hopes he won't stumble across a deathclaw or a platoon of mutants.
"Just give me a few days, or perhaps you would be willingly to pay my world a visit, so I can get the needed supplies together."
no subject
Rosco considers the offer and nods, reluctantly.
"Well, if you know how to get back and forth, I'd be honored to visit, but I gotta bring Flash, if we'll be gone more than a couple of hours. She gets too lonesome on her own."
He means, of course, that he gets too lonesome, without her.

"I'll show you where you can find my door, and I can meet you there once you're ready to join me."
no subject
"All right. Maybe I can get someone to look after Flash and play with her a bit. She's real friendly to anyone that ain't a criminal!"
Truthfully, she was real friendly to almost anyone, except Boss Hogg or someone who threatens Rosco, but that was close enough in Rosco's books.
