When you make the hell yourself

Damien had been through the Nexus before, on the periphery or in the wilds but today he was in the plaza. Cyanide was loaded with bags of supplies but, true to everyone from his world, there's a rifle with a spotting scope holstered on the saddle like a cowboy and his Winchester in some old movie. The horse also has cloth armor across the chest, Kevlar to help protect her from the Ministry. Damien stood stroking the horse's face.
The horse is huge, to someone who knows them she is an appaloosa crossed with some sort of large draft horse. Six foot at the back, almost as high as her master is tall, and he's thin in a way that isn't just genetic. Damien, like most of the older Diamond Dogs, spent days and nights going hungry so others could have enough to eat.
He watches a few people walking by between adjusting his horse's makeshift bridle.
"How do you tell someone worried about your safety that you're a big part of the reason everything is hellish?"
He might be asking the horse or the people walking past. He doesn't even know as he pushes his long hair out of the way. He pats Cyanide on the neck as he starts to turn away from her. "I guess I have to figure that out."
