What an interesting neighborhood

A dimensional crossroads.

Interesting, and Kisuke had been exploring the place quite a bit since he accidentally opened a pathway here. Such new and interesting things should be treasured, after all. Plus, after so long poking and experimenting on the four planes of his own world, it was exciting to poke at something completely different. He had been happy to tell Ichigo about it, a slow project to get the other interesting to coming to check this place out as well. It wasn’t an immediate need, not since Kisuke had stabilized the accidental portal.

There was even a fascinating power that prevented most violence. Given he was raised to hunt down soul eating monsters, as well as kill most things that had any resemblance to being alive, the idea of a place where such things failed more often than not was intriguing.

Plus, it meant a far smaller chance of a war popping up if he brought Ichigo here. While Kisuke would admit he dragged his partner into the first war, he was not responsible for any of the others they both found themselves in.

Though right now, Kisuke was here for far different reasons.

“What to buy the grandkids?” he murmured aloud. Most of the people around here seemed quite friendly, so maybe he might get a few suggestions. He could make a lot of things, the benefit of being a creative genius. But he was pretty sure that his adorable and precocious grandchildren would be much more interested in other dimensional items. Especially the older ones. They were used to the crazy things that Kisuke created in his lab. Now it was time to buy crazy things from someone made to entertain his slightly chaotic family.

This man looks a lot younger than Aya's grandpa but Aya-chan is very young and anybody in their late twenties or older looks like a potential grandparent to her. The dream-traveler considered for a moment, then asked, "How many grandkids do you have? How old are they? What do they like?"

Smiling at the girl who had decided to answer, Kisuke tapped his fan against his lips. "Well," he said, smiling at the thought of his grandkids. "The oldest group are in their late teens and down. The younger ones are pretty small still, all five and under. I have six older grandchildren, and three younger ones."

Jinta really did like having kids and was a really good dad. Kisuke was surprised but happy.

"Might I have your name?" he said, curious who this girl was. He wondered what sort of world she was from.

He had teenage grandkids? Really?

Aya looked bashful.

"Oh! My name is Fujimiya Aya." She bowed respectfully. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"It is nice to meet you as well, Fujimiya-san," Kisuke said politely back, giving her a nod. She was adorable and reminded him of when Ururu was young. So his instincts were already primed to be nice to her. "So, what would you find interesting from a cross-dimensional nexus point?"

"Something as different from whatever is at home as possible!" she said breathlessly.

"So if you are from a space and future place, maybe you could get them something old and interesting. Or if you are from an old and interesting place, then you could get some space and future stuff. Or, you can just get things that they are interested in. Like, I liked it when my brother gave me a book about being a nurse and most people might think that is really boring but I liked it because I want to be a nurse."

Aya realizes that she has been talking too much and too fast. She bites her lip. There is the faintest trace of blush. She tries to remember how to be polite.

"Ah. May I have your name?"

Kisuke chuckled. She really did remind him of Ururu when she had been that age and excited about something. "I'm Urahara Kisuke, a candy shop owner." He smiled at her. "Well, you are being very helpful, and I appreciate it, Fujimiya-san."

The man considered things. "Well, it seems like our world is a bit behind compared to the tech here. Not much, but it does give me a good direction."

Aya ducked her head. She smiled at him shyly through her bangs. "I don't think I have been all that helpful. But... I think that your family is really lucky to have someone who cares enough to get them something special."

[urahara_kisuke]

Kisuke's smile softened. "Not all help is a grand expansive thing," he said with a smile. "Sometimes it's helping to give some good advice." She really did remind him of his eldest.

"So, what is it you like best about this place?" He was curious it was this girl found interesting about this cross-dimension place.

"The people!" she said immediately. "Everyone I have met here has been interesting and kind."
