Isamu listened. He could hear grief in the older man’s tone as he worked himself up. There was a war going on, and he blamed himself for it. But Isamu couldn’t help but focus on the experiment itself.
“Unless it was your research that led to the creation of all of the portals to and from the Nexus, then others have already done what you have done. It is so commonplace now that we can create personal-sized doors using our PINpoints. If the fabric of the universe was no longer intact, then this would have been the top priority within IRIS long before my acceptance there, I am absolutely certain of that.”
Isamu stopped and sighed.
“Here you are, confessing your part in possibly starting a war, and here I am, fascinated by your research and whether it provides additional insight into how the portals here actually work.” He grunted, burying his head against bent knees. “Maybe Ziggy is right!”
