Vampires go Brrrrrlllll~
"Um..."
There's a pumpkin patch in the Nexus today! A small one. It kind of looks like one of those pumpkin sales you see outside churches around Halloween, selling pumpkins to raise money for the youth group: several dozen pumpkins of various sizes and shapes set out on a tarp. Except there's a low chicken-wire fence set around the tarp, and these pumpkins are not just sitting there.
They're rocking back and forth a little, all on their own, making intermittent rolling forays in no particular direction. Bumping into each other, rolling up against the fence, scrunching up the edges of the tarp as if to get under it and away from the light. Some of them have reddened patches on their skin, as if they're blood-stained.
"Ummm...so, what had happened was, I bought a bunch of rare seeds from a guy at the night market." The young woman sitting in a folding chair by the display looks a little sheepish. "I have a greenhouse on the roof of my building, I figured whatever sprouted could be contained. They just turned out way more prolific than I expected."
She's gonna need a new greenhouse.
"These are vampire pumpkins. They used to believe if you leave a regular pumpkin out in the full moon they might turn into vampires on their own, but apparently you can breed them for seeds and get a full crop. Who knew, right?"
Brrll, brrll! The coven of gourds makes soft thrumming noises as they bump around. Some might find the sound annoying, but Abby thinks it's kind of pleasant, a little like a cat purring.
"Anyway, these are up for adoption, I guess. I wouldn't recommend eating them, unless you're already a vampire, but I can't think why you'd want to, even then. They can't bite you; they don't have mouths. I don't think they're malevolent, just kind of dumb, so probably the worst they could do is trip you up on the stairs. If you get one and keep it in a playpen or a box, it's totally harmless and kind of cute."
That's...encouraging. Any takers?

She taps her chin thoughtfully, eyeing the crowd of pumpkins. Some of them seem to be rolling up to the fence as if they like what they're hearing, and those are the obvious choices. "The ones with the longest stems will be easiest to water. But you probably want them all in roughly the same size range so they don't bully each other. The yellowish one closest to you might be good, or one of the bumpy ones over here to your left. I like the ones that look warty, personally. I think they have character."

Mindful of the one already at his feet, Molly shifted to crouch, peering at the pumpkin already in his hands before setting it with it's friend. "What do you two think? You're the ones who're going to have to play nice after all."
The warty ones were cute though, and he tickled a lumpy bumpy gourd that was within range while watching his two bumping gently around each other and at the ones separated from them by the chicken wire.

She leans forward and rests her hands on her knees, watching as he goes over the pumpkins. The ones he's already selected seem fine together, and the lumpy one he tickles makes a louder brrrllll!, rolls forward, bumps into a larger pumpkin, and rocks back and forth as if it's frustrated.
"That one either likes you or wants to attack you," Abby says, amused. "It's hard to tell with them. Maybe it's both. Maybe they attack out of affection."

But if she's not gonna clarify he's not going to press- knows how he feels about that sort of thing. Besides, these weird little pumpkins are entertaining as hell! He can't help but chuckle at the feisty little gourd, red eyes lit with amusement.
"I know a few people like that, it wouldn't surprise me at all," He reached a hand out, in range of the pumpkin to see what it would do. "You wanna kick my ass little guy?"

In the Nexus, she's pretty free with her line of work and lifestyle; less so back home. But at the moment, the pumpkins are more fun to focus on! She laughs softly as he holds his hand out to the pumpkin. It rolls back slightly, as if surprised to be approached, and then, feeling challenged, tumbles forward and bonks into his hand. There is almost no way it could do serious damage like this; a small bruise at worst. It seems pretty determined, though, rearing back to come at him again.
"Wow, I don't think I've seen them that lively before!"

Molly laughs as the pumpkin charges, clearly delighted with the feisty little gourd. "You'd make an excellent barbarian with that boldness my rotund friend," He complimented it, moving his hand to one side and wiggling it to make an inviting target, glancing up at Abby with an amused smile. "Barbar here'd need a fluffy cover I think if he does come home with me- be a shame if he bruised himself on my hooves or something."
