Favourite Things
The Plaza is a nice place to meet new people and to sit down with a huge plate of cookies. This is what Cookie is deciding to do as most walking past will now spot a blue furry monster devouring a plate load of chocolate chip cookies. His large fluffy hands picking up the cookies and shoving them into his large black gaping maw of a mouth. No teeth just a large hole.
"OMNOM OMMMMNOM OMONOMONOMOM!
Bits of cookie flying everywhere as the monster's large googly eyes focus on the plate of cookies. Almost as in a state of frenzy Cookie finishes the whole plate which now stands empty. All gone. He had to get more! But from where? These ones had been given to him by a nice person. Maybe Oscar the grouch knew where to get more cookies unless---Cookie baked his own. That was an idea too.
"What favourite thing for you? Mine cookies. What yours?"
The blue monster now sitting with an empty plate of crumbs asking passers by because he was a curious creature. Asking questions was good and helpful since it helped Cookie learn and learning was good.

“Hey there!” Minoru waved. “Favorite things, huh?”
That would require a bit of thought. Did freerunning count? Or did it have to be a physical thing you could see and touch?
“Oh, that is quite a simple question for me.” Isamu smiled politely, tapping his satchel. “Books.”
Minoru smirked. “Well, you do devour them almost as fast as he does cookies.”
“But not in the same manner, of course.” Isamu specified. Heaven forbid Cookie Monster get any ideas.
no subject
"Books? Dey teach you things. Cookie read sometimes. But eating cookies is more fun. Help count cookies den eat dem all up."
What if there were books made out of cookies? The little monster's brain thinking of whole cities made of cookies! Wouldn't that be something?
"Min-oroo? Dat is you? Not know other boy's name."
Cookie sometimes forgot names.
no subject
Miniru smirked. Get Isamu going on the subject of books, and he might never stop.
“Cookie, you know my brother, Isamu.” Minoru chuckled as he made the introduction again. “We’re twins, remember? Think you can finally tell us apart?”
no subject
"Brother? Isa-moo? Cookie forget. Oops. Not same person but twins?"
Could the monster tell the two apart? It might take him a while but he was determined! Cookie liked learning and it seemed Isamu liked learning too. Books. They were useful.
"Isa-moo like books? Can't eat dem. Not cookies."
no subject
Which was actually just a couple of weeks away.
“If it helps, while we do look quite a bit alike, we are not identical. Minoru is ever so slightly taller, even if his hair did not stick up in all directions sometimes.” Isamu added.
“He likes to keep his hair short. So that’s another good way to tell us apart.”
“And I do not believe I have ever seen Minoru without that necklace on.” It was another way to tell them apart, but even more than that, “Which suggests, as far as material possessions go, that may indeed be his favorite thing.”
Minoru tugged against the chain gently. Isamu wasn’t wrong. It really was his most prized possession.

The blue monster just shrugged and didn't really know when his birthday was. Maybe Oscar knew or Big Bird. They were better at remembering things then Cookie was. The two brothers did look alike though!
"Cookie not have any hair. Just fur. Me monster. Necklace? Ooh shiny ting dat. What have for?"
Now the monster was interested in Minoru's necklace.

He stopped more because of what he saw was asking the question. What on Earth? Rekker had to stop and remember this wasn't Earth and strange things showed up here unexpectedly.
"Do you mean objects or people?" That would change how Rekker answered that question though thing suggested an object.
no subject
"Ummm----objects? What you have on your back? Gee-tar is it? Cookie like playing gee-tar! Oh boy--ginger man have one."
This one was special because it had two necks to it! Maybe it was a special magic guitar.
no subject
"Yes." He confirmed the question and grabbed the strap of the guitar to pull it around front, paused and then stopped for the moment. "I play guitar and made this one."
The ginger man line did get a silent laugh from the Brit though. "I have.. hmm... 46 guitars."
That seemed like a low number and Rekker was partially distracted while trying to take a mental inventory of his guitars at home and the ones now packed for tour. "No, 55 guitars."
That seemed like a better number but then he remembered the blue creature's question. "I..." He froze up on the question and frowned as he thought about all the things he owned. "I like guitars and my car but if just one thing, then the picture of me and my daughter when I met her."
He cherished that little tiny piece of her that he had, the only piece.

The blue monster just staring up at the tall man because this one was tall and his had lots of hair! Almost as much as Snuffy! He is a big elephant monster and has huge feet. Also very hairy. Like this man.
"You look like friend, Snuffy. Back home he big elephant dat is hairy. Ginger. You have daughter too? Dat is good. I know lots of kids back at home."
no subject
Rekker has no idea how to take being told he looks like an elephant but the comment after it causes him to visibly look depressed in his posture. "Had a daughter. I only saw her for a few minutes before her mother took her away, 14 years ago now. I'm not allowed to see her."
He has to shake that thought off before he goes into something very dark. "I see kids all the time because I teach music."
He was trying but the sadness was still gnawing inside over his own daughter.

"I like jokes," he says, feathery tail twining as he looks the newcomer over. "And music. Though I do like cookies, too. I am skekLi, the Satirist."
no subject
"Jokes? Dey are funny. Cookie likes jokes too. What big, round and tasty?"
This new friend liked cookies too! This was always a good thing in Cookie's books. Maybe they could find some cookies in the Nexus together? Would skekLi get the joke though? Cookie hoped he would.
I feel bad for giving you my brat but my heart is full of joy at seeing Cookie Monster.
He's not expecting to have a question aimed at him and he scowls a bit at Cookie.
Favorite thing???
"Winning. A flawless victory. Being number one."
no worries it's all cool
Cookie just staring at the boy not knowing why he wanted to win and be number one. Eating cookies was much more fun than victory surely. At least this is how the blue monster saw it.

Loki seems to be jogging to keep up with the children. Chances are that of all the folk they might run into in the Nexus, this is the least dangerous, but one doesn't simply allow one's offspring to grab onto any monster they see. "Remember what we've talked about?" he calls after them. "No touching without asking!"
Una takes point, putting her hand on Eindrid's shoulder protectively. "Um, hi, can we hug you??"
"My favorite food is banana pudding," Sigrid says thoughtfully. "Or blackberry scones. Do you have a favorite cookie?"
no subject
"Hug? Of course. Cookie like hugs."
The blue monster held out his arms and waited for the kids to hug him if they wanted. Back home he got lots of hugs and Cookie was taught to be friendly and nice to people. His friend Ernie hugged him and so did Grover. Big Bird also gave hugs even though he was very tall. Oscar---not so much.
"Banana pudding? Me love cookies! Choco-late chip favourite. Oh boy I do love dem! Do you have any?"
no subject
It's nice to live in a place where friendly blue googly-eyed monsters are real, and the bad kind of monsters don't show up quite so often.
"I bet you could make cookies that taste like banana pudding," Una says.
"Yes, but it already has cookies in it," Sigrid lectures, and turns to Cookie. "It's pudding, with bananas on top and vanilla cookies on the bottom. You might like it too!"
"We don't have any cookies at the moment, I'm afraid," Loki says. "But we've been known to bake them. Personally, I quite like caramel shortbread, but chocolate chip is hard to argue with."
What? He likes a little whimsy on occasion, too. So sue him. He offers Cookie a handshake or armclasp.

The tall man had Cookie looking up and couldn't believe how tall this man was. The dad? He must be as the furry monster took the hand and shook it rather vigorously; his large googly eyes spinning around madly for a few seconds. All these new friends he was making today!
"You tall man. What name? What name kids too? Me Cookie Monster."
He looked back at the children and wanted to know their names so he could get to know them better. It was polite to use someone's name as Big Bird told Cookie once. Not just calling people "Cookie friend" or "You dere."
no subject
As a consequence, when Cookie does look up at Loki, he's fighting laughter. Four precocious children and a monster! He deserves this sort of chaos. He leans down and gives Cookie a gentle hug, as well. "I'm Loki."
Pointing to each of his children in turn, he introduces them. "Agnarr, my oldest. He speaks in sign language." Sesame Street monsters might know sign language? That would be interesting.
"Sigrid, my little banana pudding fiend. Una, a warrior princess. And Eindrid, my youngest and your biggest fan."
"And yes, I happen to know we have some bananas at home, so we can make pudding if you insist, Sigrid."

Late to the partay yayyy
She's coming back from the beach as it is, dressed in a short tied skirt over her swimwear, a surf board in one arm. "Though cookies are a good thing to love too. Especially when they're still gooey and fresh from the oven."
Cookie loves parties!
This girl liked cookies too! Cookie was pleased about this as he offered her a wave and a stare with his large googly eyes. Treasure under the ocean? This sounded fun but---Cookie couldn't swim.
"Cookie not swim. You swim doh?"
Re: Cookie loves parties!
"Not all treasure is under the waves, I helped my Dad," She paused it still felt a little weird calling him that, but continued. "And uncle find a pirate town once. That had treasures still. And this was my first one." She touched the palm sized shark tooth that hung around her neck. "I was just a little minnow then. But yes I swim." She nodded to her board. "You can't exactly surf without knowing how to swim." Her smile didn't fade. "If you want some time I could teach you."

The little fuzzy monster couldn't wait to get his fur wet because this sounded like fun! Wouldn't he have to wear one of those big rubber inflatable things around his neck though? A....life jacket? That was what Big Bird said when going into deep water. You had to be careful!
"Me want to bring rubber duckies along too. Dey swim well."
no subject
"Rubber duckies are also hard to keep track of when swimming in an ocean. Though we can see if I have a floatie."
