"Most of the people I've met here are from Earth," Adia replies with a small smile. "It gives me hope that Earth might be real where I'm from, too. Are you from... um, the United States? Canada?"

She wonders a bit at that, the brief allusion to his work, but he seems to want to keep the focus of conversation on her own situation. "It's okay," she says finally, picking at her eggs. "It's not always easy to make friends, and I had the good fortune to know people who really understood what I was going through on my home world." She puts on a brave smile and adds, "But I have friends at home, and... well, the Nexus is still here for me. Even if it's not the one I remember."
