There's been so many fresh faces to the Nexus recently, and more than a few of them have been children. Questions about finding a way home, about trying to decide if they want to go home. People wondering what to do now...

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several caraffes of coffee, breakfast pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

"Meet and Greet"

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? Have any questions about the nexus?"

[Coffee? Breakfast? These are all good things, but let's face it, socializing involves alcohol. It's the perfect device to incite conversation and help people to interact with one another.

But you, a denizen of the Nexus may ask: how can one have alcohol in the morning? Well, that's where the bear steps in. No more than a few feet away from Katsuya's buffet bonanza is a white polar bear who's got a mini-bar set up. All sorts of fluted wine and champagne glasses are set out, being filled with different alcoholic drinks: Bellini's and Mimosa's. Maybe if you're nice, he might actually take a special request for certain drinks. But, for the most part, Ice Bear is very approachable and will be more than chat it up with new and old friends alike.]

Did someone say alcohol and free food?

Because a certain hobo young man is all about free food made by Ice bear and alcohol to go with it. Josh has a hoodie pulled over his flannel today what with the dip in temperature. He gives an appreciateive glance up at the cafe behind the setup.

"Thanks for getting me a key to the place. I'm getting the haunted house set up for the big shindig at Halloween. it's coming along real well."

Guess who else is up early and probably just as cheery?

Grace was passing by when she noticed the tables and smelled food and coffee, so she's just going to casually investigate, apple in hand.

"Good morning Miss, please feel free to help yourself."

There aren't too many folks here quite yet as it's still early, but ever the responsible host Katsuya gestures around to the few who are here and smiles.

"Feel free to mingle, and we'd be happy to answer any questions you might have."

Adam tends to be more of a loner but if he has to return to the life of a cop getting out to in the public is important. But perhaps it is the lure of the sweet children's cereal and coffee that brought him here. But it is more of both. And there he sits by the window with his coat draped over a neighboring chair, his back is to the window and he has himself facing the people as they come in. His gold sunglasses still cover his eyes, and the light glistens off his sleek black metal arms.

It feels great to be out in the light for once. And all of this work is bringing back his fonder memories of being a regular beat cop back in Detroit long before his rise to SWAT, Sarif, and the path his life has taken.

He still has plenty of questions to ask about this place he is going to call home, and a place that he has now sworn himself to protect. With spoon in hand, he goes to dig into the sugar coated rainbow vomit in front of him, and he doesn't hesitate to dig into it. But the smell of bacon and eggs are really tempting.

Adam's stomach finally caves in to lure him to something better than his standard. He gets to his feet and he makes his way to the line where he helps himself to some bacon and eggs along with a side of potatoes to go with it. "I have more than my share of questions to ask about this place, but they are ones that might be best answered through experience."

There are plenty of available seats, though the closest is next to a rather slim man nursing a cup of coffee with a half finished plate of eggs and a cherry danish on his plate.

"Still doesn't hurt to pop in for a meal and meet the locals." Steve is one of the more permanent faces here in the Nexus, and never misses a chance to do his part when these events come up.

"Nothing like a fresh cup of coffee and some pastries to go with it." Jack Harkness will never turn down a cup of coffee, and he is quite happy to meet some of the new arrivals. And he has been keeping himself busy with his new home after he and The Doctor opted to have some breathing space. And sitting in front of him is an application or two, but even he tends to get light in the feet and prefers to saunter off. And one of those applications just happens to be for The Nexus police.

He is sitting at a table, and he reaches a hand for the cup of coffee and he takes a drink before he goes to look at the people who have came in. "One thing that never was clear was exactly how we can visit other worlds. Is it at will or do we need permission from whoever the portal belongs to." A life of adventure on worlds Jack has never visited is far more interesting than playing copper.

And way more interesting than settling down again even if it might be nicer to grow some roots again.

"It's fairly straightforward. Unless a door is sealed anyone can walk in. I keep my own sealed and protected to prevent the dangers of my world from escaping here to the Nexus...."

He speaks as though he's seen something like that happen before. Though Katsuya does thank him for the appreciation showed toward the food.

A breeze drifts through the plaza and with it, a certain traveler. He's not up early, so much as he just hasn't gone to bed yet. You can't tell he's tired by his walk. He swaggers along with his typical confidence, but his eyes betray him. There's a touch of redness in the white of them. A glassiness that usually isn't there.

It doesn't take the most alert version of Han Solo to notice that there are tables in front of the cafe that he knows Ice Bear works at. The smell of breakfast too, which, is ultimately what lures him over. His time in the Nexus has created a fondness in the spaceman for 'chicken eggs'.

Hrm.

Han cocks his head to the side and regards Katsuya for a moment. There are a couple of answers to his question that spring to mind that, to be honest, aren't all that friendly. Being up so many hours straight has made his patience a little thinner than usual, but he can see no reason that he should be overtly rude. Not when food that is apparently there for the taking is on the line.

"Yes." Han says simply, forcing a smile and offering a too friendly pat on the shoulder for someone he is literally just meeting for the first time. "And no."

Then his legs begin to move him forward, hitting the ground in a cadence that is typical for him. A plate is grabbed, eggs are portioned out upon it and Captain Solo helps himself to a place to sit. You'll find him at a table by himself, with his boots propped up on it. He's holding the plate in one hand and handling the fork with the other.

"I trust you are not a morning person."

Han is a familiar face around the Nexus, though not one Katsuya has had the pleasure of speaking with one on one before. He will happily set a cup of coffee down on the table next to where Han has settled himself.

If he has anything to say about the pilot's posture or lack there of, he keeps it to himself. His eye twitches just slightly though.

Where there's free food, Djem is likely not far away - even if it is early. With a plateful of several pastries too many, he's happy enough sitting at one of the tables, hood up against the breeze, sleepily scrolling through his phone.

While he's not against having company, you might need to tap him on the shoulder or try to pull his plate away to get his attention; he's pretty much in his own world.

Jim is careful to wait until Djem isn't trying to swallow his food before he taps the kid on the shoulder and settles down across form him at the table, a cup of coffee and a plate of eggs and sausage in hand.

Got enough to eat there, pal?

Things on Adia's world haven't gotten so bad (yet) that she's starving, but it's been a long time since she's seen such a welcoming display of food. Her grumbling stomach overrides her cautious nature and she helps herself to a couple of pastries as well as some eggs. Her only question at the moment is how she's going to juggle a full plate with a cup of coffee and a handful of disposable cutlery.

Noticing how much the young woman has to carry, Grace approaches her with a smile. She's only holding a cup of coffee, so she's happy to help.

"Need a hand?"

The thing about long-term habits is that they're dann hard to break. Which is why Vanyel, a lifelong early riser, is generally up with the sun even when he doesn't truly need to be.

Such is the case this morning; what started as a simple walk ends with him drawn toward the cafe by the smell of cooking meat, and into it by the promise that all the food is free. (That's an offer he will probably never turn down, no matter how old he gets.)

"Gods yes," he replies to that first question, and makes a beeline for the sausage.

Narration said that he was an early riser; it never claimed he was a morning person.

Rosco chuckles at the enthusiasm, nodding in agreement.

"Coffee sure is a boon, this time of day. I'm Rosco Coltrane. Good to meet you."

The guildsmen of the Mausoleum are free to spend the daylight hours however they please; for Dinah, that means visiting the Nexus now that she has a reliable route there and back.

The smell of coffee and pastries hits her nose the moment she enters the Plaza, and she wastes no time following it to its apparent point of origin. She may not need to eat or drink anymore, but that doesn't mean she can't, or that she doesn't like to when she gets a chance.

Upon entering the cafe, she makes an immediate beeline for the coffee. She'll get to the food (and the mingling) in just a minute.

There's someone else at the coffee already: what looks rather like a helmetless Roman soldier pouring himself a cup in one of those anachronistic moments the Nexus seems to love. On the other hand, he's measuring that stuff out with what looks like far more care (even a hint of trepidation, perhaps) than it deserves, so probably he isn't used to doing this.

He is quick to step back when he realized he's holding up a more avid caffeine enthusiast, and picks up a cup from the pile to offer her. "Ah. Pardon me."

Free food? She can work with that. Dia's not exactly new, but she can certainly answer a few questions, and likely still stands out a little, in her black, loose robes. Even with the hood down, and saber attached to her belt.

Calling it 'Coffee', though, was a little new to her. She knew the beverage as 'Caf'.

But hey, a caffeinated jolt is a caffeinated jolt in any reality or galaxy.

"Dia?"

Josh hasn't run into the former Sith in some time. If there's an open seat near her Josh will be happy to take it, setting aside his plate of hot food and drink to properly greet his sort of friend.

"How's it going?"

While Dean is still recovering from his run in with the runs, Sam has left the hotel room that has been home since they arrived in the Nexus. He is at the carafe fixing him up with a healthy breakfast that consists of not just an egg white omelets but he has a nice fresh bowl of fruit.

"My brother and I are looking to continue our family business here in The Nexus, but I'm not sure if a pair of hunters of the supernatural would fall in line with the police or if we can continue doing freelance work." Sam knows things here might be different without the connections that they have back home."

He reaches for some strawberries or at least he hopes he has a spoon full of strawberries, and he puts them neatly on his plate. "Oh, and I wonder if I can get something to go." He asks of the staff to see if they will let him bring something back to the hotel for Dean. That is if his brother still has an appetite.

"Given the numerous magic users and supernatural beings who frequent the Nexus, some experience in dealing with them could only be an asset." This comes from the fellow in rather Roman-looking segmented armor just down the table. He looks up from inspecting the food to give the younger man a look of mild interest. "What precisely are you used to hunting?"

Helping herself to some sausage and eggs to go with her coffee, Esther is quick to find the table furthest from any others.

It's no great distance, but hopefully it'll do.

She hasn't been in the Nexus long, and while she has met a couple of people, she's fairly certain that's more than enough for now. Not counting on anyone wanting to talk to her or to join her - not that that's stopped anyone in the past - she brings a beaten up copy of 'Red Dragon' onto the table and opens it on a dog-eared page.

Hiding at the fringes and burying one's nose in a book may work on most people with a sense of human social cues. It doesn't deter certain other people, however. There's a small thump and a scratching on the tabletop as a small crow alights there. He ducks his head forward, peering at her face, at her plate, at the open book beside it.

"Greetings, featherless!" Okay and he talks, in just the sort of excitable croaking voice one might expect.

The latest arrival heads not for the food or a table, but straight for Katsuya. She's not here for any of the rest, after all: all she intends is to stop by and check in with a friend she hasn't seen in a while. Just for a few minutes: she can see he's busy. As always, Ghost hovers at the armored Guardian's side, blue gaze flicking around at the guests.

"Hey, Suou." Her voice is warm as ever. Maybe a little quiet, by Blaze standards. "Nice place you've set up here. Sorry I didn't stop by and say hello sooner."

"Blaze, it's good to see you well."

Katsuya's smile is warm as he helps himself to a cup of coffee. Just because he is awake and helping folks out this early doesn't mean a little caffeine couldn't help matters.

"With all the new residents it seemed prudent. How has your fight been?"

Rosco might be a bit dumb, at times, but only a bit. He's certainly not dumb enough to pass up free food! He likes the idea of a meet and greet. If things go well, he's gonna be these folks' new sheriff. He needs to start getting to know them. He gathers up coffee and starts filling a plate.

And there is a cheeky archangel who is going to try and sneak Rosco's hat from off his head. Gabriel has a pocketful of sweets, and he is looking for a little mischief. Harmless mischief, but mischief all the same. And here's hoping he can get away with the sheriff's hat.

Katherine is nearby, having just woken up and come outside to get some fresh air, and of course she would love some breakfast. But like the lady she is, she doesn't quite rush up to grab some food.

Instead, she daintily walks over, smiling at the man she hasn't met yet.

"What is the occasion?" she asks.

Said unmet man is a tall and rather slim Japanese man in a grey suit with a red button up shirt underneath and tinted sunglasses. Though, the suit is currently being partially covered by a red apron.

"I've noticed a lot of new people here, and thought perhaps a gathering would help people create bonds and learn about the Nexus together."

He's certainly not also promoting his cafe. That would be good business sense and lord knows Katsuya doesn't have that.

When exactly Natasha showed up to this little shindig is anyone's guess, but she's got herself a bellini and a couple of guava pastelitos and will be just over here off to the side sitting by herself somewhere out of the way.

She's keeping an eye on everyone despite how casual she appears.

"Hey." Adam comes up to join Natasha, with his cup of Irish Coffee in hand. He isn't exactly the one to join in the whole social aspect of these types of things. And even if it might be beneficial, Adam would be much happier watching a ball game back in his apartment.

"Never thought I would see you here." He goes to take a seat at her table with or without an invitation. And of course, he still lacks a name to go with her, and he is aware that he didn't exactly get a chance to introduce himself.

Okay, Officer Stick up His Ass may not be Jim's favorite person in the Nexus, but even he can see this is a good idea and a decent setup. He doesn't make much conversation with Katsuya and instead quietly helps himself to a cup of coffee and a plate of eggs and sausage.

Ice Bear is decent and Jim sees plenty of faces he recognizes and several he doesn't. If anyone's got a question he'll be over here.

With a coffee and a plateful of fruit in hand, Grace approaches Jim's table with a smile, nodding to one of the empty seats opposite him.

"May I?"

She doesn't recognise him, but she figures that's easily remedied.

"Might you have any tea this morning?"

Amelia's got a soft smile for Officer Suou as she approaches him. The early morning hour doesn't seem bother her, either. "And how much might I owe you for that and a chance at some breakfast?" She's already reaching for a small coin purse in one of her pouches, to make it obvious she's not here to take advantage of the hospitality. If he and the others are providing a service, then of course she wants to pay them for their time.

After getting herself a little breakfast, the rogue takes a seat at a table in the corner. Her body language is very open today, which is accented by the lack of weapons hanging from her belt. She sips at her tea between bites of food, enjoying watching the mixing and mingling going on. Social gatherings like these are still difficult for her, but she made it out today, so it seems like a good step no matter who she ends up chatting (or not chatting) with.

"Tea? Who wants to drink tea in the morning with a feast like this?" Tyrion is going to join Amelia at her table with his helping of sausage and one goblet of wine. "I'd figure a feast like this one is best washed down with a large helping of wine." He reaches up the best he can to put the heavy plate down on the table, and pull a chair up for himself.

"Oh, and I hope you don't mind the company, My Lady." He's not sure of her standing, so Tyrion plays it safe. He's in a chipper mood this morning, and he was due for a visit to the Nexus. It will sure beat spending time in a boat any time, so a few months at sea will be met with a few months spent here among friends and strangers alike.

He plops himself up on the chair regardless if she wants his company or not. His stomach is crying out for the food on his plate, and a wine that he's never tasted before.

"Sure. This my favorite meal. Ownership in this place seems a bit wiggy. Is anyone gonna pitch a fit, if I chop down some smaller trees?"

Once he's done talking with Suou, Freddy grabs a table and eats slowly, watching people interact and just relaxing.

"As long as you don't go chopping down the trees in someone's yard or out front of their shop, folks don't seem to mind."

A young man in a flannel speaks up from where he's refilling his cup of coffee.

"I've lived in a shack for nearly a year and I cut down wood all the time to keep the place warm with a fire."

"Oooh, crepes! I remember hearing about these, but I never had a chance to try them!" Curie's eyes are wide open at the huge amount of food, and even food that is normal for some is still a new experience for Curie. And she was not going to miss out on this learning experience.

And she's going to help herself to a little bit of everything, as she is still learning about the things she does and doesn't like. The whole human experience when it comes to food is exhilarating, and it is almost overwhelming. She is also looking to make new friends, and she likes to think she's doing quite well when it comes to getting out and about to meet new people in the Nexus.

"Oh, I'm still learning about the Nexus, but I can try to answer as many questions as I can. Oh and I'm looking to find people to help work at my clinic." Curie knows she can't handle it all, and having various people knowing about various people is most important.

"They're real good, aren't they?"

Speaking of the crepes that is. Steve's also never had them before, and like Curie he's been trying a bit of everything. Well, not everything as Katsuya has made more pastries here than he could ever hope to eat in one sitting. But plenty.

"You opened a clinic? Wherabouts?" With soemone as frequently sick as Steve is, it seems prudent to be aware of a local doctor's office.

"Wine! And lots of wine! Do make sure everyone here for this great feast of yours has a fresh wine glass, and I will be sure to..." Tyrion removes a coin purse from around his belt, and he tosses it Katsuya with a joyful smile planted on his face. "Pay for their share."

He feels very much like celebrating the change of pace his life has taken. And he wants to make sure the help here is given what he feels they deserve.

Life for Tyrion is as good as it gets. "And I do have to wonder where the hog is." But he won't turn down the plump sausages and cakes.

Her first instinct is to comment on how it's maybe a little early for wine, but she keeps it to herself. He looks like he's in a good mood, possibly celebrating - it could be worse.

"Someone's in a generous mood."

Grace remembers meeting him briefly after she'd just arrived, but she didn't remember getting his name.

"For something you had a hand in? Always."

Hughes smiles at Katsuya as he walks in and over to his friends. He's been meaning to come see this place, so he's glad for the chance to make it in. "This place is really nice. I'm glad you were able to start it up." He takes an appreciative look around before turning back to Katsuya. "Need any help this morning?"

"Hughes!"

Katsuya gives his friend a warm smile and a wave to invite him over to where Katsuya is standing. The officer even takes a step out from behind the table to take a short break and catch up with his good friend.

"The Crossroads Cafe. I couldn't have done it without the help of Radio and Ice Bear, but it's coming along so nicely." He sounds proud when he talks about the space. "I'm glad I let Radio talk me into pursuing this.."

The problem with not being people is Bulkhead can't fit inside of the cafe, so he is just going to be hanging outside to meet some new friends. The oversized robot doesn't exactly eat so he just is going to hang there with his head cocked to the side so he can peer inside and his backside sitting down in the street.

"I wonder if all of the buildings here are made for human sized people? Or are there places where a bot of my stature can wander besides the great outdoors."

It probably is even more telling of the robot's size when Steve approaches him. He's small even by human standards after all. He looks insignificant next to the large robot, but it doesn't seem to make him any less friendly.

"There's places around here made for non humans to be comfortable. My friend Blaze is a robot and she knows all sorts of places made for non humans. She's not quite as big as you, but the Nexus is a crazy place. I'm sure there's places you'd be comfortable."

Josh had been hanging out at the front with Ice Bear for a while, but now that he's got himself a bubbly drink and a plate full of food he's going to find an empty seat a bit out of the way so he can watch all of this going on.

It's not that he's anti-social or anything, but he's a little bit nervous around folks these days. Best to stay over here and out of the way.

Adia has refilled her coffee and helped herself to another pastry; she normally wouldn't eat so much, but the rations on New Caprica supply only the minimum of nutrition and calorie requirements. And who knows when she'll get to have a cherry danish again?

She spots Josh as she heads for an empty seat. She starts to wave, then realizes both her hands are full, and wanting to neither spill her coffee nor fling precious pastry goodness around, she just stands there a moment and dithers. He doesn't really look like he wants company, but it'd be rude to not at least say hello, right? Oh, what to do...

Well, if anyone can forgive her social awkwardness, it's probably him. She approaches his table and says quietly, "Hi, Josh. How are you doing?"

Steve is happy to see so many familiar faces. He hadn't even eaten right away, merely helping himself to a cup of coffee and wandering around to see just how many people have gathered.

It's only so long he can resist the siren call of food cooked by Ice Bear and Officer Suou, however, so Steve does eventually help himself to a plate of food and take a seat at an empty table to enjoy this rare treat.

Iphigenia's sitting nearby, eating a cherry danish--she's never had one before, and she thinks it's delicious. She swallows the bite of food in her mouth and waves.

"Do you mind if I join you?" she asks, wiping up a crumb from the table. The princess is always tidy.
