Welcome Committee
There's been so many fresh faces to the Nexus recently, and more than a few of them have been children. Questions about finding a way home, about trying to decide if they want to go home. People wondering what to do now...
There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several caraffes of coffee, breakfast pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.
"Meet and Greet"
Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is.
"Right then, is anyone hungry? Have any questions about the nexus?"
((OOC: Feel free to mingle and threadjump in this thread. I'm trying to get people who have yet to meet to interact, so do not feel obligated to only reply to me!))

"Anyway what type of threats are we talking about?" Jack wonders about what is so bad in Katsuya's world that he made sure the door behind him was closed shut. But the thought of the daleks or someone like The Master finding this place is unsettling.

"Demons. They're less of a threat now than they once were, but I doubt we'll ever fully eradicate them from my world."

And as much as he is preserving life, Jack understands that sometimes there is threat so great to the rest of everyone's existence that sometimes this is a path one must take in order to preserve life. And this is something he understands all too well.
"As for my world, it isn't demons, okay maybe you might consider them to be demons. But there are beings and individuals who would love to either destroy a place like this, or they would love to find what powers it and use it for their own goals."

The experience has left the officer with a rather harsh perspective on non humans, but he's been getting better at that since coming to the Nexus. Prejudices are hard to change, but given effort and time, not impossible.
"May be in your best interest to look into securing your door then."

And his lengthy experience in the field has shown him what those with ill motives are capable of. "So what does this place have in the way of making sure people don't abuse these portals?"

Adam is walking back to his seat with a cup of coffee in his hand, and he looks between both Jack and Katsuya. "Both of you have a good point, and I also want to make sure that I can keep what's in my own world from finding this place." He reaches a hand for a chair and he pulls it out so he can take a seat.
"But he does raise a good question." As far as Adam is aware, the police here are to make sure people don't get kidnapped and keep the peace inside of the Nexus itself. But how does one deal with anyone who goes into another world with the wrong intentions is a big concern of Adam's as far as this world goes. And his as well. He can only imagine the chaos that might happen if The Illuminati were to find something that would end the world he knew.

He gives the newcomer in the sunglasses a polite nod as he's refilling the man's cup of coffee, before his gaze slides back to Jack.
"There are no guarantees, in the Nexus."

His eyes drift downwards to the cup of coffee, and he nods a thanks to Katsuya. "Like I said, I'll talk to my friend once he comes back about making sure we can keep control of our own portal. And seeing I've done something like this before back on Earth, it shouldn't be too complicated of a process."
The entire place reminds him of how the Cardiff Rift once worked. And of course, it wasn't the only rift to exist in his universe. "You're right, if we're to close one, there is always a chance at another opening up. Time and space can be a fickle beastie who refuses to be tamed. “

And pretty much everything Jack just said went right over his head. Dealing with security, Adam is a champ but the whole technical side, forget it. He continues to hold the coffee in his hand, and he puts his other hand to his chin to stroke the tip of his beard.
"And I know if anyone were to ask for it, I would be more than willing to help with any problems that arise for them at home." As cold as Adam can come off as, there has never been a time when he's turned down a civilian who was in need of help. It will also allow him to feel a sense of purpose while he's here. And turning to something more than just being a beat cop.

And Katsuya has, on more than one occasion. Occupational hazard of fighting demons and working as a police officer. He adjusts his own tinted sunglasses--much less fancy than Adams-- and takes a moment to glance down into his own cup of coffee.
"Yes. I have also volunteered to help other worlds in need. That is one of the things I find myself drawn to about the Nexus. There is a camaraderie here."

"I'm no stranger to working on other worlds. And this place is almost a bit of a comfort for me..." He pauses when he realizes he doesn't have a name to attach to both of them. "... So I'm more than willing to help out other places if and when they need it the most. And prior to arriving here at The Nexus, I was helping a friend of mine with a few problems concerning a stolen relic and the threat of all out galactic war."
"You'd think that the Borirorn of Ergol VI would be a bit more graceful when it comes handing over someone's prized cexdon amulet." And Jack is almost aware that he might not be making a whole lot of sense to the two sitting at his table. "But trying to turn us into the Celestial Intervention Agency wasn't really needed." There's a sigh and Jack looks down at his empty cup of coffee, and he then reaches for his cherry danish and he takes a bite. "We're just lucky we happened to find our way here before things got out of hand." He mutters with a mouthful of food.

He reaches a hand for his coffee, and he takes a drink while listening to Jack's interesting story. And it gets a bit of a rarely seen smile from Adam, as he puts his coffee mug down on the table. And he looks from both Jack and Katsuya.
"My experience with other worlds is limited due to being new, but I'm more than willing to offer anyone help if they need it. And the more you..." Adam looks to Katsuya. "...describe it, the more it reminds me of something more like what I experienced back home with the Detroit Police Department, and my time as Head of Physical Security with a company that went by the name of Sarif. And it will be nice to have that experience again."
