Welcome Committee

There's been so many fresh faces to the Nexus recently, and more than a few of them have been children. Questions about finding a way home, about trying to decide if they want to go home. People wondering what to do now...

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several caraffes of coffee, breakfast pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

"Meet and Greet"

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? Have any questions about the nexus?"

There are Avengers where Miles is from. New Avengers. Old Avengers. A team full of female avengers. It seems like you can hardly meet a superhero where he's from that hasn't been an Avenger for at least a week or two.

But it does tell him that they're not from the same reality. Should he ... tell her what his name is? It seems like professional courtesy since she did give him her's. And how much trouble can it get him into if she's not even from the same version of earth as he is?

"I'm Miles." He says when he's finished chewing and swallowing. "I try not to be irritating when I can help it."

"...Miles. Do you prefer Spider Man?"

It seems only polite to ask considering the hesitation he showed before he gave her his name. He doesn't seem like a bad kid. There's a slight softening to her features. She moves the last pastry off to a napkin and slides it purposefully across the table so he can have that one too. She already had her own share, and he's been professional to her. Positive reinforcement.

"Good to meet you. Do you know me? A version of me, rather."

"When I'm in costume." He clarifies. "Not so much when I'm out."

Now, this is more like he envisioned it going when he initially sat down here. Some one-on-one superhero bonding and some sharing of food. This is what a big nexus breakfast should be like. Not to mention, Natasha seems to have good taste in food, so. He trusts her to have equally as good taste in baked goods.

NomNomNom.

"I don't know you very well. We weren't Avengers at the same time. The Black Widow, I know, I guess I mean."

"Fair enough."

Natasha isn't much for long winded conversation, being more the type to listen to a group and speak up only when she has something worth saying or a quip worth dishing out. Usually to Clint or Rogers. But Barton's not here now, and the only Rogers that is here doesn't know about her. She's gone to lengths to keep it that way, too.

"Sorry if she's kind of a bitch. Occupational hazard." It's a weak attempt at humor, but an attempt nonetheless. Natasha certainly isn't smiling while he helps himself to that last pastelito. "Half as good as your family's after all?"

Miles does at least smile at the joke, and since the mask is pulled up to his nose, you can actually tell that he is smiling. In between bites of food that is.

"I think it's one of those things where everybody thinks their nana makes the best version." He says with a thoughtful tilt of his head. That said, by all indications, he seems to be enjoying the pastaleto.

"Tell you what, if you let me know where to find you around here, I'll bring you some leftovers the next time we have them at home. Then we'll be even."

"I wouldn't know, but it follows what Barton always is going on about."

She puts a lot of stock into what Clint thinks about things. He's probably the closest thing to a best friend Natasha has ever had. Not that she'd ever call him that. Admitting attachments is the first step in having them used against you in this line of work.

"I'll give you my burner phone's number."

She slides it across, written on a napkin with the same care she had handed over the pastry.

"You're alright, Miles." Is she smiling? Perish the thought. She most certainly isn't just barely turning up the corners of her mouth at this kid.

Miles finishes scarfing down his morning snack and then, finds an un-phone-numbered napkin to wipe off his face and hands. When that's all set, he folds up the number neatly and slides it into a hidden pocket in his costume. The one that holds his phone, in fact, so he remembers to program the number in later.

"Hey, thanks for sharing with me, Ms. Romanov." Miles points out. "You didn't have to, but I'm happy that you did."

She can't help it. Well, she can but she's choosing not to in this moment. Natasha gives Spider Man a warm smile and a slight nod of her head.

"What are Avengers for? If Stark's around in your world, ask him to take you to schwarma sometime. He knows a good spot for it."
