Welcome Committee
There's been so many fresh faces to the Nexus recently, and more than a few of them have been children. Questions about finding a way home, about trying to decide if they want to go home. People wondering what to do now...
There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several caraffes of coffee, breakfast pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.
"Meet and Greet"
Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is.
"Right then, is anyone hungry? Have any questions about the nexus?"
((OOC: Feel free to mingle and threadjump in this thread. I'm trying to get people who have yet to meet to interact, so do not feel obligated to only reply to me!))

She takes another nibble of her danish, and wipes her mouth carefully.

Steve feels a bit self conscious in his threadbare clothes next to Iphi but he tries to look a bit more put together. Napkin gets unfolded and put in his lap, even. Gotta be a gentleman.
"I'm glad the summer is waning though. The heat was starting to get to me."

"Yes, I agree--I do appreciate the autumn," she admits. "Do you think there's any sort of reason why people have started showing up more frequently here?"
She has no idea herself--she's not certain if it's a sort of magic or the gods or what have you.

Steve gives a thoughtful look around them before giving Iphigenia a slight shrug of his slim shoulders.
"To be honest though? It's the Nexus. I've got no idea."
no subject
She lets her gaze wander for a moment, watching someone get food and coffee.
"We had feasts, back home," Iphigenia says, turning back to Steve. "Grander than this. But this is still lovely."
no subject
Steve swirls the coffee in his cup and chuckles a bit.
"The country was just getting out of the worst economic crash in its history. And folks like me were still in it, felt like. Getting enough to eat was definitely one of my biggest concerns. That and keeping a roof over my head."
He looks around at all the people gathered and gives a fond smile.
"I never went to a feast until I got here."

Iphigenia has never really had to work for, well, anything. The concept of being "poor" is foreign to her.
"I'm sorry to hear that you struggled," she says finally, looking down at her danish, which doesn't seem that appealing anymore. "Is it better for you here?"
Awkward discussion about socioeconomic class, woo!

Steve's quick to wave it off.
"We always made it through. And I'm proud to be from where and when I'm from. It's nice here, don't get me wrong." He gestures around them as if to say 'see?'. The whole gathering and people caring for each other thing.
"But I do miss my home."
no subject
Iphigenia sighs.
"I wish I were proud of where I'm from. It was so different from here, and not in a good way. And yet I miss it."
She shakes her head and laughs a little, ruefully.
"I think I miss my idea of it more than anything."
no subject
He chuckles slightly.
"I was a lot more uncomfortable about it last year. I arrived in the nexus right before the annual Halloween party and had never seen that much food in my life. I thought I'd lost my mind."
no subject
Iphigenia attempts a smile when she sees him chuckle. He's sort of cute when he does that, she thinks.
"I can't even imagine being overwhelmed with food. We always had too much, back home."
