Welcome Committee

There's been so many fresh faces to the Nexus recently, and more than a few of them have been children. Questions about finding a way home, about trying to decide if they want to go home. People wondering what to do now...

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several caraffes of coffee, breakfast pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

"Meet and Greet"

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? Have any questions about the nexus?"

"A good source of protein that's easy to find and tastes delicious. A good choice for breakfast, if I do say so myself." Of course he doesn't always have the luxury of choosing his breakfast, but eggs are always something Red enjoys when he has a chance. He'll have to look into the ones on offer a little later.

A slow grin pulls across Red's face at Han's comment. That's all the permission the older gentleman needs to find his friend a drink. "Wait just one moment, my friend." He quickly rises from his seat and moves over to the minibar, collecting a mimosa and a Bellini while he's at it. Both are set on the table with care, with the mimosa being set directly in front of Han.

"Give it a try. Tell me what you think."

It's not like Han to turn down a drink in most cases. There has to be a good reason for him too. Such as it being severely toxic to humans instead of just mildly so. Or that it's been drugged. Other than that, he'll probably drink it.

He starts with the bellini; beginning with a slow, shallow sip. Just enough to get a sense of what he's getting into and to wash away the taste of eggs and coffee.

"Wow, that's sweeter than I expected." Suprised blink even accompanies the words. It doesn't really stop him from going in for a bigger taste. Yep. Definitely sweet. Bubbly too. He's drinking it quickly enough to make it seem like he's enjoying it, but there's a bit of a perplexed look on his face.

"Does it come like this normally or is something mixed to get one of these?"

Red is enjoying the strange faces that Han is making. It's been a while since he's introduced someone to cocktails like this, and most people simply like them or don't. This confused acceptance is rather enjoyable to watch.

"It's traditionally a mixture of peach puree and sparkling wine. If it's a little on the tart side, they'll add sugar. Knowing the bear who made it, I assume he added a little sugar." A beat as he takes a sip from his mimosa. "Is it too much? Or is it simply not your style?" Both seem plausible.

It's just that sweet and bubbly isn't something he gets exposed to very often. He's very much a salt of the earth type. Well, as much as a pirate from outer space can be a salt of the earth kind of man. The point is, he tends to stick to what he knows. Broadening his horizons is admittedly something he should do more often.

"Oh, Ice Bear has been mixing these?"

That makes it seem all the more like he should be having these, then. If they get the stamp of approval from two of his most favored acquaintances ... well they must be good. Or important to be seen drinking. Sometimes the later is an consideration as well.

"I guess I can see why people have them at breakfast. It's kinda light and ... not what I'm used to."

There's no helping the grin that pulls across his lips as Han works his way through justifying the drink. Not that he needs to, of course, but it's amusing that he's trying anyway. He'll keep the laugh to himself, though.

"You should try the mimosa, then. It's made with orange juice and sparkling wine, which makes it a little more tart and savory in comparison. It might be a little more to your taste."

He pushes the second glass he brought over for the captain a little closer. It's still a light and fruity drink, but one's more likely to see men drinking mimosas over bellinis with their breakfast. Something about seeming manly with drinking all the pulp in it, Red suspects.

He appreciates that, Red. It's kind of unfamiliar territory for him to suddenly be in the position of not being the guy who's been around the block and seen it all. You'll hurt his (surprisingly/not surprisingly) fragile sensibilities if you start teasing him for being out of his depth.

Han does as he's suggested to, though. The mimosa might be a little less out of control sweet and that does appeal to him, he takes a hit of the next drink.

His reaction is very plain on his face while he's trying it. Like he was trying to pick out where all the flavors were coming from in a drink that doesn't even come from his own galaxy, so, it looks a little puzzled. Then he seems to settle into the next sip.

"I like the acid in this one that the other doesn't have. Must be the juice."

As much as Red might like to tease Han, his chances of sitting in the Falcon seem a lot smaller if he did that. So he'll simply bide his time and hide his smirk around a sip of his own mimosa.

"The orange juice is much more acidic," he confirms. "All citrus fruits are quite acidic, especially compared to something like a peach." Peaches can be tart, yes, but that's a much more rare occurrence than with oranges or grapefruit. "If you like that, I have a few other drinks I can suggest that are less inclined toward breakfast than the one you've got now."

If Han likes orange juice, he's going to love screw drivers.

A person's image is important. Anyone who thinks otherwise is full of crap. Whether it's because Reddington is just that smooth or because Han just isn't all that familiar with Earth, he his this impression of Ray as sophisticated. That he knows so much about the common drinks around him doesn't suggest to him for a moment that the concierge of crime perhaps drinks too much - it's because he's worldly.

Han ... knows that he can't quite pull off that kind of classy impression for long periods. Maybe long enough to get some doofus to think twice, but not much more than that. He's a bit jealous of people who can make people think they're refined. He wishes he could be.

"The little things ..." the cultural things and small details. "It's always good to know what the right drink to have is."
