"Leonis was a monarchy for over a thousand years," Adia explains. "But our transition to a democracy was peaceful." She used to be proud of that fact, that her colony was able to transition to a more equitable government without any bloodshed. But now she wonders if that made her people too complacent once real war was upon them.
