UGLY SWETTER CONTESt

Harrowheart has fashioned himself some kind of lumpy snow chair, where he sits next to a sign of questionable literacy and gets busy smoking a cigarette. One of many, judging by the number of butts in the snow near his armrest. His phone sits on his lap playing various holiday songs from worlds across the multiverse. If the mixup is to be trusted, there are a lot of worlds listening to Mariah Carey.
In dripping red paint the sign behind him reads 'UGLY SWETTER CONTEST'.
Does that explain why he's dressed in a gaudy red-and-green sweater with a misshapen reindeer sewn to the front? Maybe, but you never know with him and fashion. When he moves, the googly eyes on the poor deer's face jiggle and its pom-pom nose flops sadly. Along one arm someone has embroidered 'HAVE A HAPPY,' and on the opposite, 'WINTERVEIL.'
He watches people pass and now again decides to explain, "Where I come from, when it's Winterveil – which it is right now – folks got this tradition of wearin' ugly sweaters and singin' songs. I probably ain't goin' home this Winterveil, but I kinda miss seein' that, y'know? So I got a proposition for ya: Show me your ugliest sweater, and I'll give you somethin' to make it worth your while. Deal?"
((This is a real contest with real art prizes! Be sure to check the OOC thread for details and to lodge your official entry. In this thread, remember to provide a link to an image of your ugly sweater! Images are necessary, text won't cut it. You may participate IC with as many characters as you want, but only one character of your choosing may be your official entry. RP in this thread is not time-sensitive, but entrance and voting is. Enter by December 28th!
In this thread all of you are encouraged to go around making fun of each other's sweaters and generally sharing some holiday reverie. Exchange gifts, drink, talk about your characters' worlds' holidays, do whatever you degenerates do when given free reign to roleplay.))

There is a slightly overwhelming feeling that comes over her when she sees him start to take off the sweater with the intention of giving it to someone he has never met. Without thought, her hand goes to her heart as if it might sort of leak out of her chest. It is such a sweet, caring sight that for a minute her eyes get a little misty and then she shakes her head and reaches into her back pocket for her cell phone.
"Oh thank you! This is truly so kind and selfless of you, it will make her day, and probably most of 2017 as well."

"It's no big deal." He says with a shake of his head. Miles shoots a web up at the ceiling and adopts one of the classic upside-down poses he loved seeing the original spider-man strike when he was a kid. When Hope looks like she has the phone held up for recording, Spider-man begins his message.
"Hi Joy! It's Spider-man. I was hanging out with your friend, Hope, and she was telling me about the sweater that you guys made together! I asked her to bring this one to you ..." With that he unfurls the sweater he plans to give away. "Oops. It's upside-down isn't it?" He starts rotating the garment so that it looks right in the video.
"Anyway, I just wanted to wish you a Happy Holiday, Joy, and I want you to know I'm thinking of you."

As she films she bites down on her bottom lip to try and stop the big grin that spreads across her face as he begins his message and shows off the sweater and then when he turns it around after showing it off upside down.
The message complete, Hope turns off the video and starts giggling. "That's fantastic, thank you!" Phone put away, Hope returns to Spider-Man and offers to take the sweater.

"I hope you have a good holiday too, Hope."

"Do you have plans for the holidays? If not would you like some? I'm sure you get asked all the time, but I am having a dinner with some friends and lots of good food if you've got nothing planned." It's worth the ask, the worst that he can say is that he already has something going on - and that's not awful at all.

Miles wouldn't call his family traditional, per se. He goes to a boarding school now, but even before that - his parents both had full-time jobs, so his grandmother was often the one filling in at home to make sure Miles wasn't coming back to an empty apartment. The time they all get to be together, especially now that he's realized how rare it is, he greatly appreciates.
Not to mention his grandma would kick his ass if he misses Christmas dinner. She's a little bit strict and definitely overprotective.
"If you're having it early or late I could probably swing by." Literally, even, because spider webs.

"It's going to be sort of an all day thing, which, I know is ambitious but after taking a headcount and everyone with different schedules, I decided to have it open house style. There will be food from eleven in the morning to probably midnight." Which is insane but there are people working late shifts and early shifts and Hope refuses to let them go without a Christmas meal and socializing.

"I could probably drop by towards the earlier part of the day." While his mother and especially his grandmother will be too busy in the kitchen notice that he took a multidimensional walk. "Let me get my phone and I'll set a reminder."
Spider-man, he may be, but there's still a millennial in suit - so naturally he's bringing a smartphone around with him.

"I'm at Lexcorps Towers in downtown Metropolis," in order to add more information for him when he adds this all into his phone.

"No allergies that I'm aware of, Hope."
As soon as he starts entering Lexcorp Towers into his smartphone, he begins to realize the fact that it's in Metropolis is kind of a key detail. There are Lexcorp Towers all over the world. Huh. He didn't realize that Luthor guy was such a big deal.
"Ah, here it is." Miles bobs his head so that she knows he's found it. "I got it stored into my GPS now."

"Excellent, I am on floor 42, just for the record but really it shouldn't be that hard to find." Because Hope will totally have signs out for people new to the area, or who have never been to one of the top floors of a building.
"I'll leave a window open if you're going to come by web," she jokes (albeit lamely) with a laugh.

"I appreciate that."
He's gotten pretty good at opening windows from the outside, but it's always nice to have them ready for his arrival. And he doesn't have that fleeting worry of 'did I break it' as he slips in through the framework if it's already open.
"Floor 42 in Lexcorp Towers, Metropolis." He says outloud -it's as much to confirm them in his own mind as it is to make sure he's got it right. "Should I bring something?"
