Adia is sitting at a computer terminal in the Plaza with a pint of cookie dough ice cream and a carton of boxed wine, watching cute animal videos online and occasionally wiping at her red-rimmed eyes with the back of her hand.

It's every bad break-up cliché, but Adia does not care. After recently experiencing the (second) worst day of life, she needs a break. And unfortunately, the only place she can get that is the Nexus.

She clicks on a thumbnail of a hamster eating a tiny burrito and takes a swig of wine while it loads. "How do you get over someone," she asks the Nexus unhappily, "When they've clearly gotten over you?"

Consequences are no issue if they're for an impossible, imagined action. They can both indulge in the thoughtfulness of each other's wishes.

The hug catches him off guard at first but he quickly relaxes into it, pulling her tight before letting her pull away again. His characteristic smile is back in place when she does. "Technically I'm still doing what a Winter spirit does... Winter is a time for reflection... and right now you're one of my people." More earnestly he continues, "I'm just lucky it means I get to help a friend."

She eases out of the hug when he seems good and ready to let go. She's not consciously aware that her pulling away earlier upset him at all, but a lifetime of social anxiety has given her a sixth sense for these sort of things, even while intoxicated. Or maybe she simply doesn't want the hug to end. It's a sign of affection she desperately craves, after being so thoroughly rejected by Caspar.

It pleases her to be considered one of his people, despite the circumstances that brought her here. "Then I am very lucky, too," she says simply with a small smile. She retrieves her PINpoint again, this time to head home. "Bye, Reynard. Thanks again."

It's a rare thing to get such close contact for so long with anyone during Winter, but all good things must come to an end. For that same reason he only smiles encouragingly at the sight of the PINpoint. "Take care of yourself, my dear."

"I will." As best she can, anyway. She's going to have a doozy of a hangover the next day.

She's about to push the button on her PINpoint, then remembers the ice cream and boxed wine. She gathers them up, assuming that Reynard doesn't want them, and not wanting to put him in the position of having to throw them out, and then finally teleports back to New Caprica, leaving the beauty of another Earth behind.
