"Do you believe in a higher being? And seeing this is a place of people from different places, I would like to know a little bit about your God." Castiel asks, as he sits in a chair outside of the cafe. His voice is as deadpan as ever, and he can't seem to recall if he ever asked a question for the population at large. But here he is. And the trenchcoat wearing angel reclines back in his seat and he clasps his hands together as he looks up to the clear sky to take in the stars above him.

"And if you don't, what is something that you believe strongly in?" He figures it is only fair to give others a chance at answer something with more meat on it. Castiel looks interested in getting to know people here more, and more so after he was there when Khan brought chaos and havoc to the people of the Nexus. And the best way to get to know people is of course to make himself open to others. Though perhaps he should have brought some coffee and cakes to share.

Whoops.

He just hopes a helping of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into dinosaur shapes is an allure to Nexus friendship. And don't forget the different flavors of milk to go with them.

"I just hope this works."

"Afterlife? Oh no, no. To the Great Ones, there is no afterlife, simply what is: the unseen stratum. Death is meaningless once you've obtained greatness; your mortal shell an anchor, a hollow vessel, and little else. The terrible loop from ocean to cosmos," he draws a circle in the air with one finger, "cosmos to ocean. Death may be a step, but it is not proper ascension. It is only...a means to draw closer, to prepare for the following step. A method to launch oneself to the Nightmare or the Dream and pray for contact..." His hand changes to make an L shape with his pointer finger and thumb for some reason.

"And what have your studies of other worlds yielded? Is return to your own barred for fear of forgetting your lessons?"

"Immortality?" Micolash looks briefly confused, then shakes his head. "No, no. Nothing so passé. To become timeless as They are is only a side effect of the true end. And that is Insight. Understanding. I am goaded only by pursuit of the deepest knowledge, the most profound perception. All I do is for the sake of mind and eyes." His hand twists at the wrist, switching position on the upheld thumb and forefinger. "Those two...sometimes interchangeable."

Micolash, once upon a time, was accustomed to people asking for greater explanation. Expected it, in fact. Being a professor renders it part of your job description.

But things have been strange for him for some time. Some place? How much time? He couldn't say accurately, couldn't even give you an estimate. Side effects of the place he was kept. The time he was kept? Another interchangeable variable. He should be writing these down. There's a sudden anxiety of forgetting that Micolash is now aware of.

All of this, of course, is internal confusion and thoughts and bad roleplay, sorry. Outwardly, Micolash goes through his own variety of thinking faces; eyebrows furrowed, lips pulled between his teeth, deliberate and slow blinking.

"...Explanation." He says it aloud, remembering now what was expected of him. "Of course, of course." A deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "I do not actively seek immortality. Not to say I do not wish to achieve it. It is simply a secondary outcome based on what I so doggedly research. One who gains the proper Insight gains eyes. And one with eyes can see the paths to the higher planes. And those who travel there become timeless. Am I...making sense?" He's forgotten the last time he ever interacted with a layman, honestly.
