The Written Word

A tall, and dignified woman dressed in Victorian gowns sits quietly at one of the Plaza tables, with a few sheets of parchment scattered out on the table before her.

She paused for a moment, uncertain about the words she wants to write.

Glancing around her surroundings, she takes a moment to compose her thoughts. "It can be difficult to be separated by someone close to you. How do you keep a connection, when more than just distance separates you?"

Faris can't smile like humans do, but he makes an attempt to move the corners of his mouth in a similar way, flicking his tail from side to side. "Such matters of perspective may not be apparent, though they are valuable tools to be practiced, much as physical skills must be practiced to be effective."

"Written only?" Faris questions, tilting his head.

Faris does that not-quite-smile again. "That is good. There are many tales and histories that are not written, and it would be unfortunate if one did not show an interest in them."

"Indeed? Perhaps one day we must exchange stories," Faris suggests. The K'da is always up for learning more about other people, particularly when oral histories are involved.

"As would I." The K'da gets to his feet, inclining his head politely. "If I did not have limited time to complete my own tasks, we could do so now, but my duty takes precedence over such indulgences. May your separation from your intended lifemate be free of incident."

"Certainly." Faris reaches one dexterous forepaw up to his ear and unclips his PINpoint, very much like a Bluetooth headset. The text displayed on the small screen is not in English, as he's figured out how to switch it to Shontine, which he's able to read. "I do not always have access to my device, but I shall monitor it periodically."

Rather than read her written information directly, he uses one claw to click a button, which scans it and uploads it directly into his contacts, formatted in the right language. Another series of button presses reveals his own contact number, translated into familiar numbers for her to put in her own PINpoint.

"You are most welcome. It was pleasurable to speak with you, Drusilla."
