People have been disappearing in the Nexus.

Going missing from work, from their homes, from the Plaza.

Locals are staying in their homes, shutting their doors. Even the more shut-in of Nexus goers will be able to tell that something is amiss around here. The Plaza is strangely sparse as far as foot traffic; many of the shops downtown are closing early.

Word is spreading in the Industrial District of an anomaly in the anti-violence field. Easy money for betting in cage fighting. Less easy money but larger amounts for competing in said cage matches. One on one, matches with and without weapons. Rounds go until someone surrenders, is knocked out, or dies. Who would set up such a thing? It's becoming very popular and many a coin is being generated. Are so many people really signing up for this?

Some are. Others are captured and drugged, thrown into the ring against their will with the ultimatum: Fight and get free, or die.

What do you do?

Are you looking to bet your wages? Sign up for a chance at riches? Are you one of the unwilling laying in a dark room?

This cat demon's been incredibly busy leading folks who have signed up to the waiting room and arranging the private suites for the most important and well to do patrons of the night's proceedings.

She does show her face around the floor itself, mostly making sure everything is good to go. The demon pauses when she spots a familiar face.

"Nyice suit mya~"

[Ice Bear seems to be talking with some upper-class French gentleman when Nekomata catches his attention. With a great deal of skill and flare, he turns to her and gives a light wave. The person he's talking with seems okay with politely steps away so the two can talk.]

"Nekocat." [The bear wastes no time in gesturing Nekomata towards a nearby table which is full of different types of sushi.] "Ice Bear promised you this last time. Take what you want. Don't worry, Ice will vouch for you."

"Whoa~!" There are stars in the cat demon's eyes. She leans over with her hands clasps behind her back and kisses Ice Bear on the cheek with a tiny 'chu' noise because Nekomata is nothing if not adorable when she wants to be.

"Thank you! Thyis is seriously the best job ever~!" Anything else said her way will have to wait a minute. She needs to eat about three of these like rightnow.

[The kiss gets a small blush from Ice Bear, before he returns to his usual stoic demeanor. He'll give Nekomata all the time she wants in the world to eat, however, he does hold up the betting sheet for the cat demon to see.]

"Thoughts?"

The eel is definitely her favorite. No, the tuna. No! The salmon! She trills in a happy purr while she eats, content to savor the food and if IceBear doesn't mind she is probably going to have a few more while they chat.

She may even if he does mind. There is raw fish in her mouth and she is the happiest kitty in the multiverse right now.

"Umff..'old on." She swallows her sushi and peers over the list. "That's two humies fighting, no special powers. That's a dragon killer fighting a super hero, that's a smelly dogman fighting a Hot Topic model...."

[Ice Bear says nothing to Nekomata while she feasts, being thoroughly reminded of how Grizz handles himself back home. She'll talk when she's ready, and even then, Ice gives her a serious look. He kinda knows what you've been up to, cat, and you have more information than that.]

"Ice Bear wants to know who to bet on. Nekocat has insider information that pertains to Ice Bear's interests."

"Oh! For betting. Odds are good on Solo there. Suspecting magic will beat out vigilante in this one, and the goth chick is def the way to go on that one."

Harrow may even have a huge advantage in his fight, but Nekomata has a very biased and feline opinion of the Worgen Death Knight.

"Dih you make ahl thesh yurshelf mya?" Woop there's a salmon roe piece disappearing now.

[Ice Bear is taking notes and marking down the names that Nekomata mentions to him. If she has the insider information, he's going to take every bit of it for himself.]

"...Yes. Ice Bear helped with making the food. Ice Bear was allowed entrance by doing so." [Being able to negotiate food for safety is a plus, since Ice guesses that maybe one of two people wanted him to fight instead of bet.] "What have you been up to, Nekocat? Working? Relaxing?"

She has stars in her eyes. Ice Bear need never feel under-appreciated for his cooking skills again in the Nexus. He has plenty of fans. And Nekomata is only the newest.

"Working. I wasn't originally interested in taking this gig, but dyaaaaamn did they make the offer too good to refuse."

"Lots of money? Ice Bear came here for that reason too."

[Ice Bear is very modest to the praise, but it's clear that he does appreciate Nekomata's kind words.]

"Does Nekocat have a family?"

"Family? No. Not in the traditional Humie sense. My sisters and I were close when we were kittens but if we saw each other now we'd be at each other's throats over territories and the like. Only way we'd really work together again was if something bigger threatened all of us."

An overabundance of sentiment is one of the many faults of the human race, she thinks.

"Appreciate what you have in the present and don't worry about it once it's the past mya~"

"...Fighting is wrong. Family should care about each other." [Ice is beginning to suspect that Nekomata really hasn't had friends and family for quite a while. Maybe that's one of any reason why demons hate humans, at least in the bear's perspective. He reaches down and gives her a light pat on the head.]

"Good to think about the future as well, Nekocat."

"You do what you have to to survive nya." Nekomata shrugs, but her ears flatten slightly in a way that says she is at least considering IceBear's words. She hasn't had anything in the way of friends or family before meeting Kazkaz during the whole body swapping fiasco.

"The future's easy nyaa~ Gonna become a super famous rumormonger and get super ryich and everyone will know I"m the best."

"Ice Bear still doesn't think fighting with family is good. Maybe Nekocat can repair the family bonds one day." [Or not. Ice Bear has no idea how demon families work, and is just basing his opinion on his bear family. Either way, the cat demon continues to get petting until she asks him to stop.]

"Rumors? Nekocat should open a shop then."

"Probably nyot. I dyon't even know which world they're in anymore." More than likely they're back in Sumaru, but there's tons of ways to die even if she discounts rampant Persona-user genocide of her people.

She can't exactly blame them when she hates demons almost as much as they do.

"But if the chance presents itself I'm nyot against it, either."

"...One day, maybe."

[Despite being a demon cat, Ice Bear does have a lot of sympathy towards Nekomata. He's not very good at showing it, but if he didn't like Nekomata, he most certainly wouldn't be petting her.]

"Nekocat can make a new family here?"
