We're all gonna get in a fight! [EVENT: FITE NITE][Warning: Violence and Blood]
People have been disappearing in the Nexus.
Going missing from work, from their homes, from the Plaza.
Locals are staying in their homes, shutting their doors. Even the more shut-in of Nexus goers will be able to tell that something is amiss around here. The Plaza is strangely sparse as far as foot traffic; many of the shops downtown are closing early.
Word is spreading in the Industrial District of an anomaly in the anti-violence field. Easy money for betting in cage fighting. Less easy money but larger amounts for competing in said cage matches. One on one, matches with and without weapons. Rounds go until someone surrenders, is knocked out, or dies. Who would set up such a thing? It's becoming very popular and many a coin is being generated. Are so many people really signing up for this?
Some are. Others are captured and drugged, thrown into the ring against their will with the ultimatum: Fight and get free, or die.
What do you do?
Are you looking to bet your wages? Sign up for a chance at riches? Are you one of the unwilling laying in a dark room?
Or.
Are you going to stand for this if not?
((Please view this OOC post to chat with other players before you jump into a fight! All fights must be agreed upon by participants ahead of time for severity of injuries. Outcomes can be agreed upon or will be decided by a coinflip by myself. Please do not come into this expecting to clean sweep someone without sustaining injuries unless you and your fight partner have agreed ahead of time that would be hilarious. If there are questins, concerns, or complaints PM me. TL:DR Have fun and don't be a dick!))

It isn't Felix the young man notices first, but the spectral wolf at his side.
He's trying not to stare, but as always Wolfie seems to get more notice than its master.
"How'd you tame a wolf? Wouldn't have thought a crowded room was the place something like that would be comfortable being..."
no subject
Wolfie doesn't look entirely relaxed, it must be said. He's sitting on his haunches, head lifted to the breeze. An ear flicks Josh's way when he speaks, but the wolf seems intent on something that's neither the crowd around them nor the cage with all its alluring scents.
no subject
This is the sort of thing he frets about, after all. The kid looks down at the spectral wolf and gives it a small smile.
"I don't much like crowds either, boy."
no subject
He glances at the boy, taking note of the quiet tension. "Friend of yours in the ring tonight?"
no subject
Josh smiles then, looking particularly proud of the people who are about to be competing. Still a bit uneasy though.
"I was here with a friend, but we got separated. I'm trying to keep an eye out for him."
no subject
"Maybe we should trade quarries," he jokes. "I'll keep a look out for your friend if you'll watch out for mine."
no subject
Who talks like that? Then again, this guy is wearing a leather skirt. What was Josh expecting, really? Guy has a ghost wolf. All kinds of crazy. He seems nice enough though, and Josh doesn't meet enough new people as it is. Gotta try to be more normal, here.
"Sure. I'm looking for a guy wearing about three shirts with a pair of thick black glasses. Blonde hair, kinda stocky but my height. His name's Chris. How about you?"
no subject
no subject
"Anyway. I know where he is. He's fighting Han Solo. Their match is the biggest attraction here tonight. Whoever set this up must be some kind of hella big nerd."
no subject
All speculation is abandoned in a second, though.
"He's what?" The conjurer bolts upright in his seat, eyes narrowed. Beside him the familiar tenses, responding to his burst of mixed emotions. Okay, he can imagine Jim getting roped into such a thing, but why wouldn't he let Felix know? Who's going to patch him up afterward? "Are you serious?"
no subject
"Here, I'll show you." He gives the wolf a wide berth now. Josh heads back up the stairs to one of the many betting tables just outside the seating areas. The biggest print fight on all of them is Jim Kirk vs Han Solo in a 'Special' cage match event.
"I didn't know Han would be here either. I just came because they were giving out tickets in the Plaza earlier. Odds are on Solo to win, and frankly, I can't blame 'em. What I can't figure is why the fight's getting so much press. It's going to be over in half a second anyway."
no subject
He gestures at the wolf before following the boy. It's not really necessary, but the familiar settles back down in front of his seat, saving their places in case they want them. Probably best to leave it there for now.
There's no arguing with the advertising, that's certain. Felix studies the irritatingly brief words, expression torn as he tries to decide how he should feel about this. Although once Josh's words sink in he looks sidelong at him, eyebrows raised.
"Oh, really? You're so sure of Solo's skill?" It's probably a tad cruel to start coolly suggesting the kid's friend is in for a beating, but... Felix is concerned about someone other than the person right next to him, for once. And he can't let people say such things about Jim unchallenged.
no subject
"Kirk isn't exactly known for fighting. That's like, the antithesis of Starfleet isn't it? Space politics over, pardon the pun, star wars?" Plus Josh still is pretty sure the Jim Kirk he's heard of is a tubby guy who's pretty old by the time his first movie even came out. Whereas Han Solo could be his brother.
no subject
...And on the other hand, the kid kind of brings up an important point. Felix turns back to the table, scanning the listing information. "...Is it an armed duel, anyway?"
He doesn't know anything about space weapons. Jim hasn't shown him any. He has no idea what they do to a man, let alone how to heal the wounds... Not that he's worried.
no subject
If the pay was good enough he might though. What's the worst that could happen?
"I don't see Chris around here, and it's starting to get crowded. Sh..should we head back to our seats?"
no subject
Jim's better at staying alive than that. Not so good at staying unharmed...
"Go ahead, I'll be right there. I just need to place a bet." That part of the plan is a given. Now, if he could only find out what Jim thinks he's up to...
no subject
It occurs to Josh then that he has no idea what this guy's name is, other than Skirt Wolf Man Who Knows Jim Kirk. Which is a long title for any person to have. Josh heads back and sits down, giving the Wolf a glance as he does so.
"He'll be back in a minute, boy."
Felix may want to hurry on the bets, because there's cheering coming from the stands and something or someone has caught the wolf's attention.
"Holy shit, that's Jim Kirk?"
no subject
Felix doesn't want to throw his name around too readily. It might interfere with betting an inordinate amount of coin under his brother's name. It's easier to be careless with someone else's money, so the terms are quickly settled.
"Of course. Who were you expecting?" He stares down at the ring, taking in the terms of battle before he remembers to sit down. Even then he can't bring himself to settle back in the chair, just perches on the edge with his elbows on his knees. Weapons. Shit. And Solo looks unsettlingly at ease here.
He mutters something under his breath. It might be a curse, but if Josh could hear through the roar of the crowd he might make out the words 'Nocturnal' and 'Stendarr'.
no subject
He's startled is all. This guy is no Bill Shatner.
And he looks pissed to be here.
"I see blasters." Josh mutters, feeling his stomach sink and churn uneasily. Maybe that's why they're upset? "Seems kind of stranger that they're chained up together..."
no subject
"Makes the fight more interesting, I expect." He's taking notice of their expressions, too. It's not a good sign: he'd assumed Jim would come out laughing and grinning, ready to make a joke of the whole thing. "But either they really hate each other or they didn't know that part of the deal..." Hard to tell, when Han's charging at Jim like that.
no subject
Chris is around, bumping through the crowds and attempting to find at least one person he knows. Considering that he arrived with Josh, meeting up with the brunette again is his ultimate goal (though he would definitely not object to running into Han or Natasha...wherever they happen to be fighting with their respective opponents).
He mostly keeps to himself. Who is there to trust, exactly, in the Nexus version of Fight Club?
It's when the crowd is distracted and moving to get a better peak at Jim and Han when he spots the other.
"Josh, dude!" His voice must be barely audible amongst the cheering. Better to hurry over.
When he's close enough for Josh to catch him, Chris gives him a relieved smile. "Hey! I've been looking for you, man." Oh, and there's someone else here too. Felix gets a smile as well, although it appears a bit sheepish as Chris might have just interrupted a conversation.
no subject
"Bro, you made it. Han's fighting a young captain Kirk down there." Josh points, shifting so that Chris has a place to sit too. He gestures between Felix and Chris slightly. "This is the guy I was talking about. Chris, this is a friend of Kirk's down there. We were trying to read the fight, more or less."
no subject
"Ah. Hello." This kid looks about as harmless as the other, whatever pain their space-faring friend is about to cause him. Felix returns Chris's smile, just to be polite, though it's sharp and fast. "Call me Felix."
His eyes are quickly back on the fight, the conjurer sucking in a sharp breath at thee blow Han deals Jim- and exhaling it in a pleased hiss when hiscaptain throws the other rather than take the next hit.
no subject
The edged tone is noted. "Felix," Chris repeats as if testing out the name. "Cool." He is about to say the general 'nice to meet you' that everyone tacks on after being introduced to someone, but the other's attention is clearly fixated on the fight. Not that he can be blamed for that. It is pretty interesting, especially because Josh and Chris are friends with Han. And did Josh say Felix is Kirk's friend? That's...sort of awkward.
no subject
Shit is he gonna be okay?
Oh hell, don't stomp him don't stomp him--oh thank god.
"Holy shit. Kirk is pissed." Come on Han, get it together!
