We're all gonna get in a fight! [EVENT: FITE NITE][Warning: Violence and Blood]

People have been disappearing in the Nexus.

Going missing from work, from their homes, from the Plaza.

Locals are staying in their homes, shutting their doors. Even the more shut-in of Nexus goers will be able to tell that something is amiss around here. The Plaza is strangely sparse as far as foot traffic; many of the shops downtown are closing early.

Word is spreading in the Industrial District of an anomaly in the anti-violence field. Easy money for betting in cage fighting. Less easy money but larger amounts for competing in said cage matches. One on one, matches with and without weapons. Rounds go until someone surrenders, is knocked out, or dies. Who would set up such a thing? It's becoming very popular and many a coin is being generated. Are so many people really signing up for this?

Some are. Others are captured and drugged, thrown into the ring against their will with the ultimatum: Fight and get free, or die.

What do you do?

Are you looking to bet your wages? Sign up for a chance at riches? Are you one of the unwilling laying in a dark room?

Are you going to stand for this if not?

((Please view this OOC post to chat with other players before you jump into a fight! All fights must be agreed upon by participants ahead of time for severity of injuries. Outcomes can be agreed upon or will be decided by a coinflip by myself. Please do not come into this expecting to clean sweep someone without sustaining injuries unless you and your fight partner have agreed ahead of time that would be hilarious. It's easy enough for Hughes to find his way down an unwatched hallway and stairwell in order to find his way down to where all the fighters seem to be kept. Sure, he sticks out like a sore thumb in his uniform, but he doesn't see that as any reason to worry. There's illegal fights, kidnappings, and who knows what else going on to investigate.

The area immediately around the waiting room for willing participants doesn't have anything interesting to find, sadly. Rather than risk giving himself away by covering the same ground Katsuya does, he texts the officer to meet him at a marked stairwell and waits patiently.

Once they've got this area covered, he'll head back up to the stands to ask around.

Katsuya for one is very glad that Hughes has finally gotten himself a phone. Communicating with the officer would have been nigh on impossible otherwise in this maze of winding hallways.

When he shows up, he gives Hughes a short nod.

"I've signed up and been asked to wait. On the surface things seem legitimate, but there are so few people in the waiting room...I have to wonder where the rest of the combatants are being kept..."

Hughes is busy snapping a few more photos on his phone (oh how he wishes he could use this to take photos of his family!) when Katsuya arrives. The intelligence officer firmly believes in documenting everything and this place is no exception.

The officer's comment make him frown, though. "I didn't see anything in the immediate area. They must have the others they've been taking in a separate area. Seems likely it would be somewhere on this level." Beat "Did you want me to look around for it while you try and keep a low profile in the waiting area? Or should we try searching together before I head back up to the stands?"

Either option suits him just fine. So long as they keep in contact and he's able to watch Katsuya's fight (for moral support, of course), there shouldn't be any problems. Hopefully.

"I'm not going to stray far from the waiting area before my fight. I'd like to not arouse suspicions. There are more than enough areas near the waiting lounge that I can look into."

The officer adjusts his tie and looks around. He's restless with the thought of captives bound and held here.

"If you find anything suspicious text me. I'll look into it once my fight is over." He's considering throwing the fight for an opportunity to free captives quicker. The fight itself is just a means to an end, for him.

Slowly, the intelligence officer nods in agreement. "Don't do anything too reckless," Hughes comments, the corner of his lip tugging upward into a smirk. "And if you hear anything from the others in the waiting area that I can look into up above, let me know. I'll do my best to keep up with it all."

And with that, it's back up the stairs he'll go. Hopefully he can find some answers up above.
