We're all gonna get in a fight! [EVENT: FITE NITE][Warning: Violence and Blood]

People have been disappearing in the Nexus.

Going missing from work, from their homes, from the Plaza.

Locals are staying in their homes, shutting their doors. Even the more shut-in of Nexus goers will be able to tell that something is amiss around here. The Plaza is strangely sparse as far as foot traffic; many of the shops downtown are closing early.

Word is spreading in the Industrial District of an anomaly in the anti-violence field. Easy money for betting in cage fighting. Less easy money but larger amounts for competing in said cage matches. One on one, matches with and without weapons. Rounds go until someone surrenders, is knocked out, or dies. Who would set up such a thing? It's becoming very popular and many a coin is being generated. Are so many people really signing up for this?

Some are. Others are captured and drugged, thrown into the ring against their will with the ultimatum: Fight and get free, or die.

What do you do?

Are you looking to bet your wages? Sign up for a chance at riches? Are you one of the unwilling laying in a dark room?

Are you going to stand for this if not?

((Please view this OOC post to chat with other players before you jump into a fight! All fights must be agreed upon by participants ahead of time for severity of injuries. Outcomes can be agreed upon or will be decided by a coinflip by myself. Please do not come into this expecting to clean sweep someone without sustaining injuries unless you and your fight partner have agreed ahead of time that would be hilarious. "At this point, anyone who is willing to put money in defense operations and R&D. I know that involves ... unique interests." Snail suddenly wishes she was the one signed up to fight. She's not a salesman!

"I've been with this PMC for a few years. I come from a country with a very corrupt government. I couldn't see a future there, so I left and joined the Militaires Sans Frontières. It's difficult work, but I trust the Comandante and El Jefe's vision. They're far better men than the Somozas." She grimaces in disgust at the mere mention of the name.

"Nothing comes easy. Ice Bear has learned this the hard way."

[Ice Bear reflects on what Snail has said thus far, and without warning walks away from the soldier for a few minutes. He returns with a business card and offers it to her calmly.] "Ice Bear thinks this will help. Man with military power is here. Can introduce you personally, if you want Ice Bear's help."

Snail takes the card and gives it a curious glance. "I wouldn't say no to an introduction. Usually the comandante handles this kind of business but he's--"

As if on cue, the announcer's voice blares from the surrounding speakers and two new combatants enter the caged ring -- a blond man in fatigues and ...

"Dios mío. Una tortuga?" Snail mutters to herself before blinking away her surprise and turning back to Ice Bear. "Ah, sorry. That's him now. Down there with the ... turtle."

"...Busy?"

[Ice Bear pauses, catching Snail's expression, then turns his attention to the ring when the bell rings. Hearing her talk in Spanish gets the bear to respond in a quick manner.]

"Si, señorita, su comandante está luchando contra una tortuga." [He gives Snail a concerned look.] "Crees que voy a ganar?"

Snail gives Ice Bear a small small upon hearing her native tongue. She shrugs. "Yo no sé nada de eso criatura. Que tipo de tortuga se pone de pie en dos pies?"

"Oso de hielo cree que la tortuga puede estar parado para arriba como seres humanos. Incierto sobre cómo él lucha sin embargo." [He might not be nearly as fluent in Spanish as Snail, but he's getting by.] "Será interesante ver qué pasa."

Snail is silent for a moment as she watches the fight begin. She's never seen a turtle shoot jets of water. Not like that anyway. "Guau..."

"Lo siento, señor ... nunca he visto nada como esto," she laughs, before her expression quickly reverts back to its businesslike, military reticence. "This is why Comandante Miller wishes to learn more about the Nexus. So many unusual things."
