We're all gonna get in a fight! [EVENT: FITE NITE][Warning: Violence and Blood]
People have been disappearing in the Nexus.
Going missing from work, from their homes, from the Plaza.
Locals are staying in their homes, shutting their doors. Even the more shut-in of Nexus goers will be able to tell that something is amiss around here. The Plaza is strangely sparse as far as foot traffic; many of the shops downtown are closing early.
Word is spreading in the Industrial District of an anomaly in the anti-violence field. Easy money for betting in cage fighting. Less easy money but larger amounts for competing in said cage matches. One on one, matches with and without weapons. Rounds go until someone surrenders, is knocked out, or dies. Who would set up such a thing? It's becoming very popular and many a coin is being generated. Are so many people really signing up for this?
Some are. Others are captured and drugged, thrown into the ring against their will with the ultimatum: Fight and get free, or die.
What do you do?
Are you looking to bet your wages? Sign up for a chance at riches? Are you one of the unwilling laying in a dark room?
Or.
Are you going to stand for this if not?
((Please view this OOC post to chat with other players before you jump into a fight! All fights must be agreed upon by participants ahead of time for severity of injuries. Outcomes can be agreed upon or will be decided by a coinflip by myself. Please do not come into this expecting to clean sweep someone without sustaining injuries unless you and your fight partner have agreed ahead of time that would be hilarious. If there are questins, concerns, or complaints PM me. TL:DR Have fun and don't be a dick!))

She only hopes his endurance gives out before her knuckles do. Dreams, it's been far too long since she was in a fist fight like this.

Despite the fact that they're both still recovering, she comes at him low and fast. She throws a hard jab low from the right toward his chest while simultaneously pulling her hair pin from her hair with her left, causing her braids to fall and slowly work themselves out with her movements. When the blow is blocked - or connects, if that's possible given how easily avoidable such an obvious swing is - she swings low with her left hand drives the hair pin into his left thigh. The make shift blade is only the size of a large, two inch needle, so it won't do much damage, but it will hurt.
And when he's distracted, she's going for another try for his throat. If she can get on his back, get an arm around his neck, maybe she can end this...

While that means the pin slides right back out, it causes another twinge as it does so that distracts him yet again from whatever else she might be doing. When she rushes him again, he manages to grit out a "Fus," but the effort staggers him worse than it probably does her. He's not going to make the mistake of showing her his back, he isn't that far gone.
But then, he's worn down enough that she probably doesn't need him to.

She rushes in and hits the ground at the last moment, sliding between his legs and grabbing at his ankles at an attempt to force him down. If he lands hard enough to knock him out of the fight, perfect. If not? No problem. Once she's out from under him she turns, ready to climb on his back and get that hold she was hoping for.

Stubborn as he can be, he does know when to quit - and this seems like the moment. He's exhausted, and if he tries to keep fighting he's more likely to collapse right here in the arena. She wins either way, but at least surrendering lets him keep a little of his dignity.
"The fight is yours," he calls, as clearly as he can given the chokehold.

"The match is mine!" Despite her disheveled state, her knotted hair, and torn clothes, her voice is clear and her eyes are full of fire.
They better keep their end of the bargain or someone is going to end up dead over this.

It shouldn't, he thinks, be too difficult to slip away after they've finished with him and get to his real business here. Tracking down those who've gone missing and who, he suspects, are being forced to fight in these matches.
As for his erstwhile opponent... well, whatever she was fighting for that desperately, he hopes she gets it.
