Ho Ho Ho! Happy HP Holidays!
There is something different about the Nexus this Christmas season. There is a light snow falling over the entire Nexus plaza. The snow is gentle, with no real coldness to the falling snow flakes. As one approaches the main gathering area, they will notice that there are many Christmas decorations, including garland hanging from the air, and there are twelve towering decorated Christmas trees, some sparkling with tiny icicles, some glittering with hundreds of candles. There are also thousands of floating tiny candles in the Nexus plaza, that gently move at their own discretion.
In one corner, there is an orchestra, directed by a Dwarf. All of the musicians are playing music on instruments made from ice. In the center of the Nexus plaza, is a huge banquet table, loaded with holiday foods and treats that showcases a variety of food from different cultures, and some of the different worlds that gather into the Nexus itself. The main delight of the banquet table is that magic can make the food replenish itself, meaning Christmas dinner never has to end. Most will be able to find something they would enjoy. With the added perk that the food is LOL-free.
There are some added little Christmas adventures, for those who get caught up in the holidays. Here are some of the extra options for the Holiday season.
Secret Santa!
There is an added bonus to the Secret Santa gifts this year. The presents will deliver themselves! There are tons of wrapped gifts floating through the air, destined to only drop when they reach the person to which they are intended. Please note that not all gifts will be given in the spirit of the season. There are a few prank gifts floating around too. Be sure to watch out for them!
Christmas Crackers!
There are Christmas crackers scattered among the tables, and in amongst the branches of the trees. They are decorated with festive paper that is twisted at either end like a sweet wrapper. Inside of the tube are prizes, and some contain Muggle prizes such as a paper hat, a plastic toy, and a slip of paper with a joke printed on it. But the rare person will receive a unique, peculiar magical prize, and will envelop everyone nearby in a cloud of blue smoke.
Weasley Sweaters!
Time to try your luck at the Christmas Sweater bin. There is a large rotating clothing rack that seems to have an endless supply of them. Each one more Festive than the last! Pick one and show your Christmas spirit for the rest of the day.
Enchanted Mistletoe!
Be warned Nexus traveler, the Nargles** have hung enchanted Mistletoe all around the plaza. If an unlucky person steps underneath the Mistletoe, they will find that they are magically stuck to the spot, until they can find someone to kiss them. Of course, the kiss can be platonic, familial, or even romantic. For a few unfortunate people, the kiss may be the last thing they would want to do... but it is that or be stuck in the same spot for the rest of the season.

Steve says again, giving Hunter a small sad smile. He looks down at the hand the artis is squeezing.
"Thank you. I mean it. You're a good friend."

"I have been leaving the gifts with his crew members. So he can reconnect with them, before his five-year mission."

"How's he taking it? Do you think it's helping?"

"I just want him to feel like himself again. Even though I know that a lot has changed."

"I know that feeling." Gods, does he ever. Steve hangs his head and sighs. Takes a good long moment to consider Hunter's words before he opens his mouth again.
"I think with you supporting him, he'll be alright. He's strong. You both are."

"Is there anything I can do?"

Steve gives Hunter a small smile. He's dealing with it in his own way.
"How I left everyone here behind unintentionally when I was hurt. It wasn't very long for them, but for me it was years. It's disorienting to be back. And the person I'm closest to in the world is in a medically induced coma until we can undo the mind control they put into his head. I miss him most around the holidays, is all. Hearing about Jim's struggles reminds me of his. That's all."
He doesn't want Hunter to not talk about it though. Steve's glad to have a friend in the artist and in Jim. Glad for every friend he has and wise enough to know to cherish them as though every day were the last. Because it very well might be.

He had experienced his own shift of 'worlds', but it was one of leaving the world of the rich, and living in the world of the poor. Not as extreme as Steve is experiencing.
When he hears about Steve's friend being in a medically induced coma, Hunter frowns softly. "If you are willing... I might know of someone here who can help undo mind control. She was a big help to me... earlier in the year, when I was under the influence of a magical curse that made me very lethargic. And she was helping during the Halloween chaos. So I am sure she would be willing."
"I value so much how much you mean to me as a friend. And I know you are helping Jim too. Because that is the kind of guy you are. So if there is something I can do to help bring you a little happiness... I want to help."

And how it kills Steve to say so. What he wouldn't give to have Bucky by his side again, fighting the good fight with Steve. He values the rest of his team greatly, don't get him wrong. But they aren't Bucky.
Steve's proven all too well that there's nothing he won't do or sacrifice for the Winter Soldier.
"I don't want to see anyone else get hurt, and neither would he in his right mind." But maybe...he looks up at Hunter from where he'd been staring into his glass then. "YOu know?"

"I really think you should talk to her." He believes there might be a chance for Steve and his friend. "April is very capable of handling herself. And I trusted her enough to go into my mind... when I needed someone to help."

That won't hurt anyone. It's not like he'd be letting her into his world or anything just to talk to her. And if there's a chance to help Bucky, Steve owes it to him to at least see how this shakes out.

It's not that Steve doesn't trust this friend of Hunter's, but he's learned the hard way how his faith in others can be used against him in very real and very dangerous ways. It's always better to be safer than sorry.
