Many happy? returns
It has been some time since the Doctor has been here. He was off facing yet another battlefield. It was meant to be his last. He has no idea how he ended up here, of all places.
He clothes are in a tattered mess and covered in soot. His body, is surprisingly unscathed. Well, now it is. 'State of grace'. It can happen with regeneration. When one is refusing or debating the entire process.
He turns to face the TARDIS. "Why have you brought me here?" When his beloved ship didn't answer him he sighs and starts to walk away from her. "Fine. But I'm not leaving. I'm staying and if this is where I die, so be it."
He walks along, not really wanting to sit. If he sits it might happen and he's not going to do that again. He's muttering to himself. "I can't keep on being somebody else. Why isn't it ever anybody else's turn? Why can't I just rest? Just once?"

He slips back into the bathroom to put them on and comes out again. They're a little short on him (but only by an inch or so), but other than that they fit surprisingly well.
"I'm impressed, it's rare that anyone has anything that fits me."
It's only because he's so skinny. He returns to sitting on the couch. "What are you reading?"
no subject
"Oh... It is called Strawberry Summer." It should be no surprise to him that she is reading a romance novel.
no subject
He's honest about that. He raises his eyebrows for a moment.
"What's it about? No! Don't tell me. I don't think I want to know."
He pulls out his sonic sunglasses that he had rescued from his pockets. That had taken some time - emptying them. And reviews his browser history.

She arches an eyebrow of the sunglasses on his face.
"And what are you going to read tonight?"
no subject
Yes he's happy in his shades.
no subject
She returns to her book. She wants to finish her chapter before bed.

But he goes quiet as he makes his attempts, besides Harley was reading and he had no reason to bother her further.

"Ready for bed?"
no subject
"Hmm? Oh yes, I can be, of course."

That came out wrong in a hundred ways. Mostly because he's being literal.

She does have a hide-a-bed in the couch, which she pulls out.
"So if you get bored and wanna come chat... just come right upstairs!"
no subject
"I will." He reaches out to take her hand again. "Really, thank you for everything. It might not change anything, but I do feel better for spending time with you."
no subject
"I am glad you do." She leans up to kiss his forehead.
no subject
"Good night, Harley."
